Well that was weirdFollow

Okay the seting starts out with me 55 SAM, and my friend Pendragyn 74 BLM.

We are out in Battalia leveling our NPCs off of the weapons there, when about the second to last fight before the NPCs called it quits and went home something very disturbing happened.


We split up looking for the weapons and when we find them we join up and kill.

I see a couple of weapons next to each other and his NPC heading to them.

Now this is the weird part. I reach Durib, his NPC, and on my screen Durib engages the enemy and there is no Pen. So I engage since the NPC was getting hate from the WS he just pulled off.

So the battle is me and two NPCs, however the mob is taking damage in large amounts that aren't being recorded in the chat box. I also am being healed, however there are no animation "effects" for it nor is it registering the usual: Pendragyn casts cure III on Boomslang.
Boomslang recovers 168 HP.
After the fights with me and the NPCs I was wondering where my Pen was. So I ask in party chat where he was, to which he replies: Look down I'm the little taru :D

Problem is he is not there. I tell him I cannot see him. He then asks if I can see his emotes, to which I must reply no.
This is freaking me out since I cannot see him or even what the heck he is doing. Next thing I know I see in PT chat Warp II Boomslang. Then I'm in Port Jeuno. Now afterwards he helped me with the SMN quest and when we meet up everything is back to normal.

If anyone can explain what the heck happened, and even better, how to prevent it from happening again, it would be greatly appreciated.
