wow, that's a sad sight to see.
Not because they are sold out, but because people really DID buy gil.

Guess what? 90% of the players you see with godly gears are gil buyers.
How disappointing...
I actually did see people in level 20-28 with awsome gear all +1 and using the airship, but rank 1-2... I gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought they changed nations.

and what exactly are you going by? have 90% of people with 'godly' gear told you they buy? because thats the only way you would know. Just because they have good gear, doesn't mean they buy, nor should you ever assume.
Heart, that's just a bad assumption. 99% of the people I know with the great gear have just been playing for a long time and got the stuff before inflation hit.
I wouldn't even assume that low ranking players with nice stuff are buyers. Most of the low level/rank peeps you see are probably people leveling second or third characters. Sometimes, I just feel like leveling my Galka, so I send him some cash and pimp him up a bit. You play this a couple of years for like 12 hrs a day at stretches and you tend to accumulate things.
Tiffie is right, alot of ppl with god gear have been playing this game for a very long time. Also, alot of ls's help their members by getting them some of the things they need that they cant afford or if they have been in the ls for along time, or just because they want to. And she is also right about how alot of ppl with this god gear got their stuff before prices went all nuts.I know I bought my Errant Houppelande ALONG time ago for I beleive 100k maybe, and now I have seen ppl try to sell them for 1mil at one point. Think now they are at 400k-700k. Also paid I beleive 60k out of a bazaar my black cloak awhile back, and have heard that even went up alot in price. Paid 400k for drude slopes which are now over 1mil. Yeah it sucks that ppl actually bought out all that gil and helped to raise prices by actually paying those unreasonable prices, but that doesnt mean that everyone with God Gear buys gil.

Well,someone has to buy it - i think some lowlvl,but highlvl as well do buy gil...

Yeah, someone is buying it. But don't assume someone did because of the gear they have or even if they have a lot of crafts levelled. Even new players that have really nice stuff don't always buy gil. I had a friend who had a rather low level job and another friend hooked her up with his hairpin and boots and stuff like that since he wasn't using it anymore. She had the best gear I had seen for someone of her level the first time through. But it was all borrowed. It's not uncommon for people to hook each other up for whatever reason.
And Wicca is right about linkshells taking care of their members. I've been working towards a complete set of hq staves for what feels like forever now (yeah one away) and I had a generous friend purchase me one and a few days later my linkshell purchased me one.
You'd be amazed at how much stuff gains in value if you hold onto it for awhile. I could probably make a few mil easy if I unloaded equipment I purchased way back when when messing with lower level jobs. In fact, I've unloaded some of it as my jobs go up in level. I'm also replacing a lot of what I'm selling with rare/ex items which leaves me with even more gil to put into the other stuff. That's another reason why high levels tend to have so much money. As we get the god gear and our relic, we sell off our other stuff and we don't have to buy anything.
I'm not saying no high level buys gil. I'm not niave, I know it's a problem on the server. It just makes me sick when people go on the witch hunts for the gil buyers and don't take into account all of the legitimate ways people can make money and be set up.

I have made probably 50+ mil just in buying things alot time ago and selling now. Sometimes being a packrat is good.
But just lost 3 mil on my nobles bought for 19 down to 16 mil.

ALot of the Cool gear low levels are either Mules being leveled or someones RL friend/signifigant other. I remember for the short time my hubby played (Beerluva,Shotglass & Kegger) I would deck him out in all of my gear (which I aquired over time and I SAVE everything) Now my hubbys friend started playing so of course I did my best too hook him up.
The economy seemed to spike the first time PS2 players came on board, also the gil beggers appeared around the same time. (sorry to toss stones - I play on PS2 now as well although I started on PC)It will only get worse when the Xbox players appear. However, our server isnt an open one all these new people were invited by someone.
Too bad SE couldn't put a price lock, like a maximum value on certain items.
The original post was on Jan 10th, today is the 31st. If you go to Ragnarok's IGE page now it doesn't just say "out of stock," the page is literally almost blank with a blurb about no items for sale. A simple google search for Ragnarok gil yields similar results - I think all the gil selling websites are out of Ragnarok gil (although I wonder how many are owned by IGE).
I hope you all realize what this means...gil buying is no longer a factor in our economy, and hasn't been for some time after the holiday season! Since the noobarific gilbuyers no longer have mass amounts of currency onhand to pay ridiculous prices, this should reflect in lower AH prices for certain items, right? Well...not exactly. As of today:
Peacock Charm - 26 mil
Igqira Weskit - 10 mil (reached 13 mill over holidays)
Byrnie - 13 mil (reached 16 mil over holidays)
Scorp Harness - 13.5 mil (16 mil and higher over holidays)
O. Kote - 8.5 mil (over 12 mil over holidays)
Serket Ring - 20 mil
So there is a slight decrease, but definitely the prices are not "normal." Why is this exactly, if there hasn't been any gil buying for weeks? Who are these people still paying high prices?
Some theories...maybe enough time hasn't gone by yet? Perhaps too much damage to the economy had already been done over the holidays? Or maybe...gilbuying/selling helped push the prices way up...but its the normal players who now perpetuate the price increase? I know for a fact that if I put my SH up for sale right now, I will try to get what the current rate is, not what I payed for it so long ago.
One thing is clear in all of this, people have been complaining about the economy since I first started playing...but lets face it, inflation and high prices are here to stay. SE will do little or nothing to fix things. To survive you simply have to play the game smarter...or choose not to play at all.

I like to believe that SE has actually done something here- as opposed to people simply buying out all gil- since this seems to be server wide & not isolated to Ragnarok.
On another forum, i found this:
Mogs.com apparently lost 40 accounts and ~40 billion gil.
Ige lost 107 accounts.
At least 150 billion gil has been removed from the economy.
Maybe the holiday explosion finally woke some people up at SE & they did something about it. It will be interesting to see if IGE & its various counterparts recover from this, or if this is the beginning of a new era.

I heard they banned a bunch of accounts with the Movalopolis steal-bot method, so I'm sure the people doing that accumulated a lot of gil. I don't know how much of it was from them, but I'm sure it contributed a decent amount.
And I'm sure some of those people were gil-sellers.
