I just hope the legit shells up there can work together to make sure that these guys interfere with everyone as little as possible. I know we all compete for the same things, but it doesn't mean we can't look out for each other while competing to make sure these guys aren't stealing people's claims or using other unfair tactics.

Remember, these people are idiots. If they weren't they'd have real jobs instead of earning pennies a day selling virtual currency. So just because someone is telling them how to do it doesn't mean they'll actually be smart enough to figure it out.

If they start stealing Kirin, that's when everyone starts quitting and all that will be left in FFXI will be the sellers and buyers.

I remember back in the day

People once said gilsellers would never reach sky.
People once said gilsellers would never kill serket, roc, etc.

:X I'm not going to discount anything. But chances are they'll steal gods. Apparently one gilseller had been casting sleep and drain on SpikeFlails byakko >_>

Well, I just hope everyone works together to give these people as hard a time as possible. We on Ragnarok already don't have much left.

Dunno if they're gilsellers, but they do steal the claim and induce the claim being lost. Selling gil = zzz, stealing claim = the point. Goodbye kirin.

That leaves Dynamis as the only safe place, but only if you train all your members to read the name in the trade window.

Heh, I was just checking the boards to see if I wanted to go back to FFXI. Looks like Ragnarok is not the only server that has problems with Gil Sellers taking over gods. I am sure the prices of everything is going for insane prices now because you can get 2+ million gil for about $40. Guess I will just wait for BF2 to come out.

Let this be the begining of a new era, where linkshells gather together from one common cause, and stop gilsellers from ******** people over...

Derival, they haven't taken over yet. The point is now that we know they are there, maybe we can work together to keep that from happening. I honestly think the best hope is for player's, regardless of shell to work together to keep people who dominate things by unfair tactics at bay.

like the vast majority of the players who started when FFXI first came out, i quit a few weeks ago. i distributed all my stuff to my LS members and a few long time FFXI friends. my mule (Funkenstein) went to my cousin, who wanted to be on Ragnarok but had a character on another world and didnt want to start over. my main character, (Xenger) went to my little brother, who plays the game quite often.

as for my reply to this post:

i took this off from another subject here in the forums, but it seems to best describe why Linkshells would never work together for one common cause.

1. Jealousy is no more than feeling alone against smiling enemies. ~Bowen, Elizabeth - 1899-1973 Anglo-Irish Novelist

2. To jealousy, nothing is more frightful than laughter. ~Sagan, Francoise - 1935 French Novelist Playwright

3. A competent and self-confident person is incapable of jealousy in anything. Jealousy is invariably a symptom of neurotic insecurity. ~Robert A. Heinlein Author 1907-1988

4. "The thermometer of success is merely the jealousy of the malcontents." ~Salvador Dali Spanish Painter 1904-1989

Most people know me as the annoying guy always tellin people to play fair and never mpk, but this whole concept made me think. I know these guys are droolin every time they see a god go yellow. If the time comes that these idiots try to steal a god, it'll be the first time you'll ever see me say "MPK the bastards!" The only thing that'll make it tough is the non-availability of mobs in the area, so it would have to be a claim steal and residual hate mpk. SE is gonna have to make gods like the rolandberry crawler or something I think, where it belongs to the Alliance leader. This whole possibility of situations is creepy...
#19 Jun 14 2005 at 1:33 PM Rating: Decent
The solution? MPK on sight. It's easy to make it look like an accident in Sky as opposed to ground HNMs.

Just make their lives a living hell and they'll leave eventually. A lot of JP's are doing it.

The main reason why I'm scared of that solution is because how long before legit linkshells start doing it too each other if they get away with it with these guys?

It would be nice for us to have a reason to come together and have a common enemy. I always wondered what could be accomplished if some of us could actually put aside our differences and work together. I know it's too idealistic because there are so many people that are too consumed with themselves. You see it everywhere, LS fueds, backstabbing, all because of some perception of power or lack of power that motivates people to such greedy meaningless extremes. If people could just set it aside for a minute and all selflessly work for some common good it would be amazing what we could do. To me, it's really a horrible tragedy. -Boog

I've been lucky for the most part in avoiding the feuds. I have friends in a lot of different linkshells and will have friendly competitions when going against them, but always just for fun. I think competing for things is a blast. It's what makes us strive to be better. But I don't think it should go to the point of us trying to hurt those we are competing against and being able to come together with them when needed. I honestly think that most of the people in our community feel the same way and it's just the few bad seeds that makes it feel like it's not possible. It would be great to see just what could be accomplished if the working together thing were to happen.

There seriously is nothing you can do to "stop" the gil sellers. There has been MANY times where I have got a lot of the gil sellers to tell me pretty much everything about their "job", boss, where they are from, etc... And at the same time while talking to a GM and you know what those same accounts are ALL still active. Just before my departure from FFXI I became pretty damn vigilant against the gil sellers by PK'ing, harrassing, pulling trains on them, just about everything that has been done to me and yet they stayed at the same spot no matter what time of day I showed up.

From repeat after repeat of GM calls about the gil sellers and what they were doing only 1 GM actually threw a group of them to GM jail for about 1 hour... or so I was told. So my final weeks in FFXI were dedicated into PK'ing any and every gil seller possible. I actually had so much more fun doing that than actually playing FFXI. Eventually I tried to make a Anti-Gil Seller LS and it worked out for a few days where everyone whould just pick a zone and do anything to stop the gil sellers. This included all the norm, PK's, trains, bringing in 30+ people for certain NM spawns, sleeping NM's for hours and then passing on the NM to a replacement for more hours to sleep, calling GM's on them, using Provoke hacks, pretty much anything.

Quitting the game will not even stop the gil sellers as I have found out. I wrote a letter to Square-Enix that detailed everything that I learned about the gil sellers, their accounts, boss accounts, where they were from, the fact that they pretty much said that yes they work to make gil to give to their boss, screenshots of this and my conversations with GM's, screenshots of AH prices and who has sold a certain item... constantly. I passed on the same list of gil seller names that I have put up on the message boards to SE and said if these gil sellers do not go, I will go.

A month later I see that FFXI puts out a message saying the are dropping a lot of accounts because of "Violations against TOS". So I came back to the game and guess what... all our sellers are still active and not only that they even have more seller accounts popping up. So I look at other server message boards and gil sellers are all still running around doing the same stuff as usual.

Aside from we as players trying to stop them, aside from SE trying to "stop" them, it is too damn easy for them to just buy a new account and start all over again from scratch. Fighting it is pretty worthless in my eyes, because the more I fought against people like our first server known gil sellers Hpc and Logitech the more accounts they added and the more NM's the started to camp. Now not only do they claim NM's, but HNM's and Gods.

These gil sellers are not stupid either. Most of these accounts that you see are college students just like many of you. The only difference is that they get paid to play the game, while you just pay to play. This makes a huge difference because they have to make gil and will do so at any means available to them.

Damn I really don't like SE anymore and I probably will never play another one of their games because of the crap they let continue in this FFXI game. It was fun while it lasted but FFXI is on its last leg and unless they actually take a stand against this it will just continue to get worse.

/end of rant :(

I'm not surprised, but if you guys start MPKing gil sellers, then either i hope you don't get banned or they don't return the favor.

The best I can think of that we can do is: keep writing letters to SE about it every little while. And call GMs and get updates on their plans on what to do. And keep doing it. o_x

Hopefully SE steps in sooner or later, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

Man....

Yesterday I heard a couple of people say that they saw Lsxxxjack (don't remember the 3 letters after Ls) wearing a pair of Zenith Mitts. I think to myself, ok, that's probably just a rumor floating around.

Nope.

Yesterday in Port Jeuno I saw the son of a ***** run by, so I checked him. Sure enough, Zenith Mitts.

FFXI is heading to a dark place real fast. :/ Even /slapping Ardagarda couldn't cheer me up. ;_;
