Have you beat a gilseller?Follow

#1 Mar 18 2005 at 5:56 PM Rating: Decent
I'm tired of seeing all these threads from people about how much gilsellers are ruining things. I wanted to start a thread about actually getting the upper hand on these beotches. It's like a battle between the good and the bad. I'm tired of hearing about our defeats and I want to hear of our triumphs.

When I say "a battle" I am very serious. People talk about the way our economy is screwed and gil is so cheap that farming is a waste of time. Personally I think this is all backwards. A weak person will buy gil and a strong person will camp, hunt, and win. With prices reaching an all time high I see no more greater motivation to farm than that reason alone.

Is competition too stiff? No. We still outnumber them and we are still more skilled than they are. They are forced to go in groups with people that have gimped subs and jobs that aren't really cut out to properly handle the mobs. There should be no real reason that we can't beat them to every mob. They may try to MPK, they may try to steal, but with enough determination they are easily beaten.

So my first contribution starts today. With many more to follow...

I own Mee Deggi the Punisher. Every time I enter that zone I get tells and slaps from Losewu and her crew. Followed by several tells about how I need to leave. You know why? Because I beat them almost every time. They try to MPK me but you can't stop this Lullaby...

Now I always hear people talk about how it's impossible to beat the gilsellers at these types of things because they go in groups to mobs that are easily killed by one person. I beg to differ. If I can get Mee Deggi 4/5 times as a BRD then anyone can do it.

I'm looking forward to hearing more stories of the battle against the gilsellers. People brave enough to MPK them, people winning pulls on "hard" NM's, and of course the drops that follow. There is nothing that beats the gilsellers more than us getting items rather than buying the gil for them. Good hunting all and STOP BUYING GIL!

you see, beating gil sellers is good, yes. but just beating them is only half the battle as far as im concerned, okay say for example player camps out VE or LL for say, gets the drop and plans to sell, well greedy player sellers a bit higher or equal to AH. even tho you can beat the gilseller you cant beat the everyday greed of actual players. =/ so therefore i see no drop of prices in the near future

Yes Zidana I agree. There is no stopping the economy. If prices are high people will sell high or low depending on their financial situation. I would not call that greed if someone is willing to pay. Most people would call that commerce I believe. Supply and demand will always determine the prices of things.

Take our stock market for example and the prices of say gold or some other fluctuating material or company. Now look at Martha Stewart (this might be another crack-headed example of mine) as a gilseller trying to manipulate that market to her advantage. The important part about our cycle is the purity of the items and the gil used to purchase those items. 100% purity (more than likely unattainable) is the only only way to actually have equality between all players.

However, I think so far everyone has missed the intent of this post which should be a collection of stories about how the gilsellers were beaten.

"Beaten" meaning that a person kept the gilseller from getting the drop and selling the item so they could sell the gil for someone to buy. If a gilseller has no item to sell, they have no gil to sell, and that is one little bit of gil that another player can't buy. The more the gilsellers miss opportunities to make gil that they can sell, the less chance someone has of actually buying the gil. Which in turn will force people to camp more NM's because they can't find the gil they need to buy the items. Which then will keep the gilsellers from getting items even more because people are now forced to camp their NM's.

You see the spiral goes both ways. It is up to us on what direction we are going in. So as I said previously there are plenty of stories from the other direction of the spiral where gilsellers beat us. I would like to have this post only represent the way we "stick it to the gilseller" rather than just have more dismal posts of our inability to take control and live good equal gaming lives that we all so aspire to have. In my opinion the more negative posts we have, the more likely people are to give up, and I would hope that we'd all like to keep that from happening. Hopefully this clarifies things a little more.

Not that it matters but when i'm in ordelles, gilsellers hate me. I'm always lucky and get the spawn right next to me.

It doesn't really matter because they have rotating 24/7 schedules so at least 2 gilsellers are ALWAYS there. (Sharise, Lovewume, Losewu, ect.) I do like talking to them though. Some do speak relatively good english and try to deny themselves being gilsellers.
Pasco and Nozokimi were in there partying with sharise and i talked to pasco who said that he did "not sell anymore". Seems hard to believe but I havent seen him there in a while after that..
Another one i talked to said he needed gil for "AF" and his "G1". I didn't feel like holding up the arguement because he just denied everything i said.

Interesting idea for a post, I can run with it.

I'm in Beadeaux having just come back from camping Unvanished and decide to spend a little time to see if I can get either Hundredmask or Evileye to pop. So I start killing the placeholders at the two spawns but notice a gilseller camping Evileye(which is normal). So I figure meh, I won't get that one, about 10 minutest later though I pass the spawn again and see a really long name dead. So I figure oh he just killed it. Then the dead quadav stood up(this was when the whole popping dead thing was new so I was a bit confused). Being rather suprised I fumbled around my keyboard and managed to get the claim and kill it.

The only thing better than camping with a gilseller and beating him to the claim is not camping with him and getting it anyway.

Well someone didn't like this thread... there's rate downs across the board. Likely someone just tired reading about people complaining about gilselling...which mind you this post was never about. Whether or not the sorry state of our economy is due to gilsellers or not I cannot speculate..but when every profitable NM becomes camped then perhaps you'll see the problem. I personally spend very little time camping NM's and henceforth have little interaction with gil sellers, but my objection to their profession remains.
