But anyways.. I'm almost done with Qufim. I'm at lvl 23 with only a little to go to 24. I'm hoping that the jungle will be better

I wish you the best of luck my friend...I still can't hear the phrase "Yhoator Jungle" without having a fit of spasms.

If you spend more than 30 minutes in Yuhtunga before seeing "OMG GOB TRAIN ZOOOOOOOONE!!!!111!!" consider yourself most fortunate. ^^

Don't camp on the tracks of the Gobbietrain and you'll be ok :)

(there are plenty of caves/tunnels away from the zone that provide a good, safe camp)

I've always wondered who decided that these places are the best to lvl... I mean, where did everyone go to fight at lvl 25 before the Zilart expansion came out? There must be alternatives but everyone is too dead set on following the norm. I guess that's what set parties are for, lol, but no one wants to start one that low ^^;

One of the things I noticed the last time I was in the dunes is that almost every party was being powerlevelled, and in most cases most of the people didn't even have subjobs yet. We had a total party wipeout, a friend came to raise us, and immediately it was like hey let's ask him to stay and power level us. I said he was busy.

What is happening, in people's rush to get through these areas that are a pain, they are often denying newer players the chance to learn party dynamics and roles as well as a chance to hone their skills. I have partied with a war who got kicked for provoking the mob off of the power level in the party previous to the one with me and was actually asking when he should provoke.

If you want to get in and out of these areas and have friends power level you, fine, but make sure the people you invite are pretty familiar with the game and what jobs do what so you don't teach them bad habits like not provoking off of a whm early in the game.

With other jobs i dont mind a pl (and yes only one) I HATE having a pl with my pt as a pld. Very few seem to understand the hate for some reason. Im still suposed to tank but they wanna spam a cure IV or something and rip hate off almost constantly.
If a pl is going to "help" a party with a pld or any tank should work with the tank. Or the pl can tank it. there are ways to keep the hate from bouncing everywhere.

"What is happening, in people's rush to get through these areas that are a pain, they are often denying newer players the chance to learn party dynamics and roles as well as a chance to hone their skills."

Amen
Sorry this turned into a rant somewhere.

So basically Vana'diel is turning into America Jr? No effort, pay someone else to do things for you, lol. ( And yes, I am from America, I'm making fun of myself, not being racist )

I personally never minded Valkurm Dunes or Qufim very much. Thought they were pretty good actually. Yhoater and Yahtunga were nice to me as well. (I even was in a party in Yhoater with my BLM/WHM that was lvl30 at the time - and i was the only healer in the party. I'm talking....the ONLY one with ANY healing capabilities.(there were no other mages, and we had a NIN tank - We did FINE, great actually, believe it or not - of course, WHM is my main job (lvl60)- so I know what being a healer is all about)

THE PLACE THAT I HATED THE MOST (for Partying):

Garlaige Citadel (level 31-36)

When i first went there, I literally HATED it. So many links, trains, etc, etc.

I DEFINITELY prefer to go to E.Altepa desert for that level range, right by the zone to West Altepa. Somehow, it's not as widely popular (or crowded) as G.C, but has treated me well whenever i needed to go there.

Hey there,
I can definitely agree that the Dunes and Quifim can be extremely frustrating. My solution has been to either give advice to someone that is new, or not doing their job effectively or "correctly". If that doesn't work and they refuse the advice, or if someone is being rude - I leave.
In leveling my pld, you wouldn't believe the knuckleheads i've run into that are pulling with voke. When I've tried to explain that it is not a very good tactic for the party situation I'm usually met with either some rude smartass remark, or that they don't have a ranged (it's usually the smartass remark). So, I can either deal with it, or leave. It's that easy.
I've also taken several days off from lvling in these places to do farming, missions/quests with ls, or wait until a ls member or friend wants to go together to make a pt. I'll go back to it after I've cooled off a bit.
It does seem like a crap shoot though. However, I'm more than willing to give advice or help another player out as long as they are willing to accept it. After all, we were all new at one point, and I certainly don't know all there is to know so I still rely on others for help to.

Sorry that you aren't on my server. I'd pt with you ^^!

Good luck!

Well I went to the jungle the other day to lvl my thf some more and I must say that I had 2 really great parties ^^ The first party was great... the tank, a pld, was actually able to keep hate on herself after I sata'd.. and we were going so fast we got to chain 5 a few times ^_^

And then the second party was fun cause we had two thfs and we were bouncing the hate back and forth with our satas ^^ Again, killed the enemies quickly and got to chain 5 several times ^^ So I went from lvl 30 to 32 in a matter of a few hours :) So refreshing after the Dunes and Qufim... but now I gotta head back to the Dunes and lvl my war up some more for subjob x_x

I still think the worst place in the ********* I would take any place else over the ******** on a weekend. Giant Bat trains: thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass.

Aye, I've heard horror stories about the citadel ^^;; Instead of experiencing them first hand I think I'll try my luck at partying in the desert.

yeah i know what your talking about yesterday i got into a pt in the dunes with my wht (lvl 12) and my o so stronge leader thought we were good enough to take pugils -.- needless to say we died badly.

SOME ONE KILL THE NEWBS
#47 Feb 10 2005 at 9:22 AM Rating: Decent
omg, pugils at lvl 12?? {/sigh}

If my party decided to do that at lvl 12 and wouldn't listen to reason, I'd give them a:

/p <call1> I'm leaving to find a party that is not insane. Good luck on your suicide quest! {/goodbye}

n00bs who think they're god will only listen to threats... and if a whm threatens to leave their party they'll panic and hopefully listen to you ^^;

And I love that picture, I almost started cracking up at work ^^

Or they with tell the pld to be main healer......true story
#49 Feb 10 2005 at 11:19 AM Rating: Decent
Well hopefully the pld would be wise enough to leave the party as well if they wanted to fight pugs at 12 :p

But yeah, I know what you're saying, and that doesn't surprise at all. You paladins gotta tank as well as heal to please those n00bs ^^

If you get an unexperienced puller that doens't pull fast enough, tell him/her to pull anything...

Most likely he/she will find the most thoughest mob available in the zone :D
