What happend to the population?Follow

#1 Jan 10 2005 at 11:58 PM Rating: Decent
I just came back to Ragnarok and notice theres only around 2,300 on theese times. On servers like Fairy and Asura there up in the 4,000s. Does the population go up on Week ends or at certians times?

Also since I started back up does any one have a decent size LS I could join?

Yes we have lost people, but our economy is still one of the most stable of all the servers AND we have some of the BEST players ever.

We do peak on weekends alot though(we still have alot of people who player mainly weekends).

Yeah...there is a people shortage lol. Today I had to seek for 90 minutes on my pld to get a party, even though 15 other ppl were seeking in jeuno, due to their being no rdm/brd available. There was everything else to form a party except that small problem so I had to wait till I got an invite to a pt lol. I've noticed too that on weekends the place is packed because I've tried to get my pld head piece at garliage and its always packed on weekends.

Even if there was a people shortage it was going to happen sooner or later.
Some people dont care much for the last expansion and people have dispersed to WoW. Quite a few of my old time guild members have moved and are preping to move to it on Euro release :(

Come this Feb i expect some more Euro people to leave these shores and head that way though i hope i am wrong, because quite frankly i played WoW and am not impressed.

School, other games, boredom, etc are the main reasons stated. Think they were all picked except school. I know as a college student that time becomes a valuable commodity and it just recently started back up for me after a long break. I won't have much problem with time because I'm taking core classes but other people I talk to usually have to drop everything they want to do and work on projects for hours on end. Same goes for the people that were playing their game a lot but have an occupation, now that the xmas and new year festivities are done, they have to go back to work and overtime should start becoming more available now.

yup ever since WoW release it's been pretty much at or a bit above the 2000 people online at the moments i check /sea all. Eventhough the last 2 weeks (hollidays most of time for alot of people) we've been steadily ard 4k when i /sea all.

However its back to normal now, 2000 people notm uhc ^^.

It seems at least once a week I'm seeing another friend leave for WoW.

Yeah, I played WoW. I chose FFXI over WoW, because the WoW community is full of EQ rejects and griefers. I read in a thread on the general forums that someone thought the community in FFXI was horrible. I think it's the exact opposite. I love the community in this game, but maybe that's just because I play on the BEST SERVER EVER. ^_^

Could it be due to it being near impossbile to get Ragnarok on auto select? When fairy and asura come up the time thats why there in the 4,000s on a regular basis if so put Ragnarok back on auto select

You mean by great communtity, the amount of extremely greedy and selfish people in the game that our constantly trying to jack up prices. Or how bout the increased amount of scammers in jeuno trying to get people to buy arrows or utsusemi powder for 5k each, try to get you not paying attention or scam newbies.
Or about the growing about of quick gil scams like casinos.

Is this the good communtity that you speak of.

Stacks of Utsusemi powder(shihei) were 6.8K last I checked. 5K IS a bargain.

Casinos are fun(yet easy) ways to blow time and money or gain some if lucky. It's luck - not a scam.

And I don't use arrows so no comment there.

Hey wing,

Sorry to speak for the other guy but he means that people are bazzing items for 5k for 1 Utsemi powder..not a stack.

Its a growing scam for people to think they are getting a good deal or are new to the system and will get duped into spending a ton of gill only to check their invens and find they have a serious problem.

fair enough its the customers that should check before they buy and make sure they know what they are doing, but its not nice to prey on the new guys to our game :( will only hurt us in the long run.

ps- i make my own arrows so no biggie for me on that one either ^^

Its very sinple
After the last Big update FFACT the program that powers the best bots lost steam for several weeks, its still not fully functional.
the money system is soo difficult that many players who cannot afford the time to spend fishing or crafting and a huge number of JP players are unable to use their bots and have decided to spend their money on games that r easier, population during most of the week hovers around 2.3-3.2 k I kno b/c I have been constantly checking it right after the update it was even lower but once the bots that dont depend totally on FFact were set back up some bots came back, and the DAY that FFACT came partially back online population shot to where it is today. u could debate this if u wanted but if u check the bot forums u can easily confirm it as tru. Say what u like about botters but they r players as well most of them are high level players too most ppl wouldnt kno this but nearly half of ragnaroks "finest" are bots as well and the JP players r the worst of all and they have the best bots in existence right now. there was a group a little while back that broke the SSL on FFXI and rumor has it they have been reading packets for months. Also prices have nearly doubled on many items b/c the cheap labor to produce them has gone up as well. some things have gone down but armor and crafted items r definetly up.
But dont worry should only be a couple more weeks b4 FFACT and ACtools r fully functional then your favorite ppl will return to pull a "wal-mart" to our economy
Thank you

going a little off subject here to the botting. personally fishbots never really bothered me, ive found quite a few people i know that ive seen bfishbotting. the thing that annoys me are the minning bots, cause with fishing you can go anywhere with mining theres just no point of even going to gusgen anymore because all the spots are taken. aside that i think the fishbots do play there part in our economy cause thier mostly selling to NPCs from what i understand and its not like their taking away anyones fishing points like in mining. idk just my 2 cents Smiley: twocents

On Avg, I see ~ 2600 or so People on, but on Sunday Morning @ 10am, there was 4300+ on. Guessing that may have been Jp / Non EST Peak Times? Who knows, but I can say, over the last few months my S/R has been pretty solid since those Server Upgrades went down :)
