What is the deal with all these casinos going on in our server? When im LFP I have to even filter the shouts because of all this garbage. Why has suddenly this become so popular? I know tons of people that have gotten small amounts of gil scammed this way and why would even risk it. So my message to you Ragnorakians today is.

Yeah... It seemed to come all of a sudden too.. One day someone had a casino, then all of a sudden Jeuno has 4 times as much spam. Woot. o_o Hurray for blist.
Their in the starter towns too...seems somones been planning it like a casino network or somthing. That would explain the sudden outburst of them.
Two words: Easy money. The minute someone is able to make a profit without actually doing any work, everyone is in on it.. everyone..

ya i tried grador's wonderful casino one day just to see, i won but yet recieved no gil YAY! IM A WINNER... he stole it i did a shout to not trust him. 3 days later he gave me my gil back... learned my lesson (dont trust 'em)

I seriously beg to differ. I am sure given a chance anyone would be easily willing to rip people off. Especially since people have been ripped off by what you deem a "Harmless casion" As far as being tight assed maybe it's because people with logic know that the percentage of winning a casino's odds are slim just like in the real world.
As far as the excessive shouting goes... Yes it is annoying while trying to look for a skill up party/avatar prime party or if anyone is doing an AF shout that I can help for. There is no chat filter for blocking "Worthless sh_t /shouts" But to each their own and goodluck on these "casions" I would rather farm myself.

Casinos are not always harmless fun, Blag. =/ hate to differ, but there are some Casinos that are called "D/C Casinos" now in which, once you win (especially if you win big), the Casino manager force-disconnects and doesn't come back until you've forgotten about the entire thing. I had an LSmate that lost 20k like that, and while I wouldn't consider it a huge sum, I. Would. Cry. if I lost that much.
Maybe its only a small portion of the community that does this, but because there aren't really rules and guidelines that the casino managers HAVE to follow, people get screwed over in bad casinos. It's not comparable to Vegas casinos where strict guidelines are enforced; here if you win and your Casino operator D/Cs or refuses to pay you, its like "Too bad, so sad." Can't call the GMs really because YOU traded them the money w/o insurance. How are they to know what's really going on?
Moreover, the /blist isn't really to say that they're bad people, /BLIST!, its more like to cut out some of the spam in Jeuno so you just won't hear the Casino shouting anymore without turning off the whole damn shout filter. Its an excellent way to filter out a little of the screaming, and I've done it more than once. It's not like its a permanent /blist; as soon as I leave Jeuno the /blist is off. But boy, saves me a headache in Jeuno.

I have used them just for a laugh, i have won and lost probbly just about broke even, well i probbly did lose at some point lol :)
But they were all good people and handed back my cash np, i dont have any real problem with them, its all in good fun.

Heh It always makes you wonder when you pass by S. Sandy and you hear a shout from a lvl 1 person shouting a casino with a min bet of 1 million gil lol

Actually, when you think about it Casino's shouldn't be allowed.
I don't know about in other countries, but in the US minors can't gamble. Casinos = gambling. And doing something online is supposed to be the same as doing something in real life. Hence why gambling sites (and other adult-oriented sites) have ways they are supposed to verify your age.
Now you do need a credit card to play FFXI, but you don't need to be an adult to get one, and obv there are plenty of minors who play while their parents pay.

I end up blist'ing a new casino with every visit to Jueno, usually more then one. I wouldn't consider someone that would pray upon their fellow players a good player, and so if I never PT with them because of having them Blisted, all the better.
And that aside... why do these little satanist casinos use 666 as some lucky number. If they wanted a real casino feel they would use 777. If I saw one use 777 as some big scoring number I would actually probably leave them off the blist and see how honest they were. But come on... being a casino is bad enough, just trying to act cool with 666 as a big money number is stupid.

I believe the 666 number comes from being 1/3rd chance of them winning.. (1/3rd of 1k = 333.33333333..) So the casino has 2/3rds chance of winning.. (666.6666666..) Some people just don't understand about rounding, I would guess. *shrug* Anyway.. Seeing as how /random goes from 0-999, it all works out.

As this is true, it's stated in many places on the FFXI box, manuel, site, etc. that PlayOnline is not for anyone under 13, and that anyone 13-17 that does play should be supervised by an adult, and the adult takes full responsibility of what the teenager does in-game.
So, the way S-E sees it, the adults can play thier /shout Casinos, and the players underage are supposed to be supervised anyhow, so they don't need to control it.
You are also warned everytime you sign on that experiences can change with online play.
I personally don't care one way or another about the casinos. I haven't tried one yet and probably won't. But if someone else wants to chance it, that's their issue. It's their gil, if they want to spend it on a game of chance, that's their choice.

I havent done thee..and I am a TIGHT A$$. real life gambling...I hate it..its such a loss of control. although I gambled 20 on slots in Lake Charles at Isle of Capri and ended up with over 200 (which completly paid for the trip itself and thensome) You gotta know when to quit. I usually have 2 cups - spending cup and winnings. when u run out of spending..ur done..and u never take from ur winnings. (my hubby says this isnt how u have fun gambling)
I only play blackjack.

The sheer amount of shouting is bothersome, so I temporarily blist the people running casinos. If I'm looking for an experience party, I take my blist off anyways (as this is about all I've used it for, all of the people who've earned a place on for reasons other than excessive shouting on it don't seem to play anymore, go figure ;-).
If I'm feeling really lazy, I'll just filter shouts. It's not use for me to complain about things I can't change. Don't forget, the house always wins!

Casinos don't bother me, you risk it if you bet it, it is your option either way.
But the shouts are annoying, but that isn't restricted to Casinos. There is Teletaxis, casinos, high lvl mercenaries, people looking for parties, etc All shouting. It is just the combined amount that gets annoying. That is why I generally filter out shouts when I am in Jeuno.
