Do you change the way you look inside the game for others to see, or just outside in screenshots.?

Dyna,
I change the way things look inside the game. However, only you can see it unless other people install the file. So your friends or linkshell mates could see the new you if they felt like it, but other than that you can assume people see you normally.

Wiccatu,
Got the edit you requested done - took very little time. Not everyone wants huge, difficult edits, small things are okay too. Your eyes are now blue.

To install it...read the directions above, I don't feel like typing it out. :-p

The file...rom\51\56.dat.

Sirem, I did your Brass Spear and Cloak. The spear is a bit more deadly-looking, and the Cloak looks extremely impressive. Among other things, it has longer dangling sleeves (as a proper wizard's should) and a lot more coverage and flow at the bottom. You have to see it in motion to know how well it worked out.

The shot...

The files.

http://www.sharemation.com/ShadeNight/Sirem/Sirems%20Cloak/49-57.dat?uniq=b0mr9v

It turns out that the cloak file actually has two seperate models...which means I could remove the hood entirely for you, or take it off your head and let it lay on your back. I think it looks nice the way it is, though.

If at all possible, I would like to have the butterfly wings that are given from the firework Papillion permanently put on my Mithra. She's the small size mithra with the short straight purple hair. If it's possible, that would be awesome. Thanks a million.

Artaea I have a small request from you, I would like the eyes of my Elvaan male to be altered from its blue color to a red. Because Im not too good at describing what he looks like, Ill provide a picture.

Necare's Face

And here is an idea of the color of what I would like to look like.

Red Eye

Thank you greatly for this service that youre providing for us.

Ps: What program are you using to alter the *.Dat files?
#35 Dec 31 2004 at 4:49 PM Rating: Decent
Hey Artaea what program are you using? and how are you finding the correct .dat files to change. I will probibly have a request coming soon for yah. :) It will hopefully be original.

Ok I came up with what I think is a kewl idea. My character is a Tall Elvaan Male with the Blond Spiky hair. I was wondering if it is possible if you could give him a Tattoo on the side of his face, like Zell from FF8. That would be pretty kewl. Some cool tribal design like he had would be awsome...

Thanks in advance.
#37 Jan 01 2005 at 3:44 PM Rating: Decent
Along with the Tattoo on the side of the face can you change my eyes to like a deep blue color??? thanks!!!

Is this even legal?

Anyway...if so, then I'd like to have my eyes and mouth sewed shut.
Here's a pic of Abe from the Oddworld games for a perfect example.

Why do the requests come in bursts...?
Alright, let me get cracking on responses, at least. In chronological order...

Love Goddess:
That sounds very, very challenging. You see, that's not actually a part of your character model, but an animation, like a Fire spell and so forth. The animations naturally have .dats of their own...but I don't have the rescources to locate or change them. If I could find it...it would be a simple matter to change the duration of the animation so that when you used one, it would last for hours on end (to your eyes, anyway.) I'll contact you if I can ever manage to do this...brilliant idea, by the way.

Rustan:
I need more information than that. Size, as they say, doesn't matter, but I need to know exactly what your facial model is if I'm going to change something on your face. Necare's screenshot idea would be for everyon's benefit...follow his example.

Necare:
Your proper spelling, grammar, punctuation and sentence structure, as well as the screenshots, give you priority. I'll do yours first.
p.s. In order to alter them, I convert them to .DDS files with a Japanese program, and then alter them with Photoshop, with a special .DDS plugin. Major hassle, but look at the results.
Edit...the eye replacement looks very nice, but understand that we are working in a very small area of pixels here...in other words, not much room for that much detail. I will try to get the impression of a red vortex into your eyes, however.

Enderz:
Your request is do-able, but I might get the wrong face. Spiky could be a number of faces, probably...
I find the correct .dat files with a useful little tool called FFXIModelViewer. It is very nice.

Bottom:
Of course it's legal...as long as I don't demand gil for my services, 'cause exchange of gil for any real-life service is prohibited by the TOS. Donations are cool, though. So far I've only had one, and I don't really expect to get them.
You get second job....but I need to know exactly what your character looks like.

I've put up a FAQ in my main post so people stop making the same mistakes.

Thank you Enderz of Enderzworld, a picture is more than enough to describe your face. I'll post your results here when I get to them, and then send you a message via POL assuming your in-game name is Enderz.

Necare,
Your eyes are complete. As I predicted, there was not nearly enough resolution to edit in your 'Satan's Eye' image. It is hard to make out the patterns in the eye, but once you see them, they're disconcerting enough, heh.

The face of Necare.

It came out to be pretty badass.

The file.

If you want me to change something about this, ask.
Next up, so...Bottom's up....heh.

Excellent job Artaea, Im truely in love with them. Rate up all the way, not too many emotions can describe how I feel about your work. The most appopriate one would have to be, "Giddy." Ok, Ive thought of another enhancement, though this one is completely up to you. Think of this as a challenge or a test.

Here is a picture of a facial tattoo that I googled up.

Happy editing.

Well I think this an extra to anyone's Final Fantasy XI's experience. Artaea, I think what your doing is really awesome, and I would like a very minor, probably easy change to my character, Solais. All I would want is for both eyes to be completely white, with a red swirl, I guess somewhat shaped like a hurricane. But I don't want a pupil though for him, thank you very much if you do this, I will definitely donate to this awesome feature you have found out. Here is the link to the picture of my character:

Oh and by the way, great job on all of your wook, very good.

Hmmmm... The butterfly wings wouldn't be that amazingly hard. Well if you could figure out which dat had the animation cause you could just pop it out of there and onto an armor model and you have wings forever with that armor... The problem lies in the whole which dat file it is thing...
