Stupid/Funny death storiesFollow

Let this be a lesson to everyone. If you are on the ferry with Insertcliche, there is a DAMN GOOD chance you are going to get pirates. By the way Cliche, that one crossbones that kept asking for you wants to know why you never call him anymore.

One more story: Remember the first time you went exploring, just to see how far you could go and what was outside your primary fighting area? I do. A couple friends and I at around level 7 went out to South Gustaberg, North Gustaberg, Konschtat Highlands (sp), and then a new place. Oh sure, we could have ended up in the Dunes and been perfectly ok. Someone would have told us we were too low and to go right back where we came from. Oh no. We had to zone into Pashhow Marshlands. Needless to say, we didn't make it far, but a friend did actually come out and raise us.
Since we had never seen any of the creatures there before, we had no idea what they were. I saw a goobbue walking around, but couldn't read it's name, so I checked my trusty Allakhazam to see what it was. The first picture I came across was Jolly Green (an NM Goobbue). So I start telling the guy who is coming "OMG look out for the Jolly Green! He's right by us and he will KILL YOU!" I seriously freaked out that our friend was going to get creamed by a simple little Gobbue. I probably got his hopes up too, thinking he was going to kill an NM on the way to raise his idiot noobs ls mates. We had to promise not to go back there again for a long, long time.

It's even more fun when you actually DO make it through the zone, only to find out someone trained some giants on the other side.

lol queenie! Tell the damn crossbones that I changed my name to Esmerelda and went on a pilgrimmage to Remora to purge the sin of mob-deaths from my skin, and I shall never be seen on the face of Ragnarok again! Our love affair (totally one sided btw) was fated NEVER to be! But I will remember him fondly, and will think reminiscently about all the times that he and I played "Poison Insertcliche", "Take a scythe to Insertcliche when she was fishing", and "CRITICAL HIT! Insertcliche dies and delevels".

Such times in a mithra's life, no one can or should forget. Farewell stupid...er...beloved crossbones. Remora calls! He must not pine away...there are MANY new adventurers, just EAGER to be killed by his bony hands! Farewell farewell! /flutters away on sakura blossoms.


That being said, ^^; yes, when I was a lvl 11-20 whm, the rate at which pirates attacked to when I was on the ship was about 85% of the time. I swear, those levels, every time I was on the boat, I would be blistering my Linkshell with comments like "...they're here again -_-." and "Crap >< dead...can someone come raise me? ;_;"

and lol Phrost ^^;;; it seems that wherever u go...the training just doesn't end. how...saddening ><

^^;;;; I have the same problem. Whenever I party, I will die at LEAST once just out of sheer bad luck. ie. I'm healing the tank and a bat will spawn BEHIND me in garliage citadel. I'm in the jungle and the smithy will bypass all the tanks and go, sword/knife raised after me. (Actually it was sad...in one party I died 4 times and the tank/melees were completely fine ^^;; sheer bad luck). And once I was fishing and a nice sea monk came by to give me a nice friendly pat on the back with one of his tentacles...alas he was a bit ROUGH >.> didn't understand that a mithra is a rather delicate thing...

looking back at all the dying experiences, its rather hilarious... ooh and queenie should get this reference.

You guys are killing me with these stories. :D I didn't think so many would be anxious to share these experiences, since most would rather not speak of them again. I'm on some kind of record of managing to keep myself out of trouble, but I'm sure that will end soon, and I'll have more stupid stories to share.

Yeah the first time I ever saw pirates, I had never heard of them. If someone had mentioned them, I thought they were kidding. So when the war drums sounded, what do Krazy and I do? Run right over to the edge of the ship for a better look. Someone tractored me, but I didn't get a raise until I was dumped out on the docks, dead. I wish i hadn't accepted the tractor, as there were MANY new people on the ferry that day, and watching the slaughter would have been damn funny.
You gotta love the deaths when PS2 people were all in the same area at once every day. Because not one person would die, EVERYONE would die. Good times.

lol i think its just cathartic to remember all the yucky death times and remember how FUNNY they are, now you think back on it. Brings home even though ffxi is often frustrating as hell, its still just a game ^^

OOOH and speaking of mobs that are out to get people (bogies, ghoals, NMs, etc...) I swear, the NPCs of San'doria have it in for all "foreigners". They are SO out to get you!

I run through the castle dungeon (w/o a map -.-) trying to find an NPC that would give me the drain quest and these aristocratic jerks are RUDE. They have their noses stuck so high in the air that if we weren't all in a dungeon, an akbaba could probably mistaken it for a tree branch and make a nest on it. And then I meet a nice NPC.

Suspicious...a nice elvaan npc >.> Hindsight is 20/20 vision.

But he sighs and tells me this little story about how dangerous dungeon-land is and then kindly asks if I want to drop to the second level of the dungeon.

Well I haven't gotten the quest yet. I can't find the NPC. Sure. I'll drop.

So he releases a trap door....and suddenly, I'm face to face with three IT jellies. Now...what sadistic race of people keeps big jellies under their castle? Obviously, THIS sadistic race of people does. So I'm thinking about invis/sneaking myself but I realise these things probably aggro to magic such as the ones in Shakrami do. And while I ponder how to rectify this situation I've dropped into (haha -_- bad pun)...one of the big blobs comes up, yanks a tentacle out of its mass blobbiness, and promptly, as the gamers say it, pwns me. I delevel. I HP. ***** DER QUEST! I yank out 25k out of my moogle bank and promptly pay some possibly ecstatic person on AH.

Similar thing happens with Ronsparre's tomb quest. I'm (again) lost without a map, attempting to find some rich-old-dead-guy's grave so I can put some water over it...why a dead guy wants water, I do NOT know. So I run around and see EP EP EP EP EP. I'm completely lost but hey, nothing aggros that I can't kill and I'm making some nice gil off gobby death. I reach a platform and once again...there is the question of "shall you drop?"

Hmmm....San'dorians aren't evil enough to have the same trick TWICE are they? >.> sure...dropping sounds like a good idea...

...NOT!

Once again, I find myself shaking tentacles with IT worms and IT bats. [Death] [HP] /slaps NPCs.

I think of all the cities and their quests...San'Doria is quite possibly the EVILEST of them all....

Lol I have an interesting one. I was leveling my blm in qufim and it was my first time with kimmykatt there. I had also installed Chains a few weeks before that. Well, we aggroed a wight while fighting a clipper and we all ran like bats outta H E double hockey sticks to the zone. I make it to the zone just as the Clipper hit me for 68 dmg while I only had 65 hp left. I wind up dead in the tower unable to be raised because I was viewing the first Chains of Promathia cutscene XD All my party members are going Kimmy? did you die? Kimmy? whats going on? and i'm sitting there laughing becuase I cant be raised because my dead carcass isnt on the floor in front of the raiser, who by the way leaves because he's confused and comes back later. If you dont have chains get it. You really need to view that first scene :D Just dont do like i did ^^:

Im not on your server or anything lol but i want to tell a story since i seen this here i was just leaving CN and there was about 50 crawlers at the zone right from rumbler to worker and i was like thanks for the offer but ill have to pass and i seen this high lvl BLM pop in cast a strong AOE zone pop up again and do steps 1 and 2 over and over but then this lvl 39 MNK decides to try and make it to the zone and about 1.4 seconds he lasted since the rumbler aggroed first and took like one big bite outta his HP the others had a feast so i ran for my life and made it lol ne ways Gl to u on this server ^^
