The problem is with the thread starter, not the spanish speakers.

I don't like to judge but i have had this problem in many cases as well, lol the same things you just mentioned, it irritates me...but there are spanish speaking players who have been playing for awhile, and are good, so... it's not all of em.

(yeah it's a run on sentance...no te gusta???)

lol... hilarious topic that really doesn't have a point or make any sense. i'm not even from this server but the topic name caught my eye, and what do you know... i ended up reading almost the entire thing.

only thing i have to say is that some of you who think you SPEAK english need to relearn it. that's right... SPEAK english not TALK english like almost all of you "NA's" type in your posts under this thread.
#57 Nov 09 2004 at 4:13 AM Rating: Default
Hey, if they try to speak english, then that's great but you can't get mad at them if they speak spanish, you can't force them to speak english.

Slad you are right. Us getting mad at someone for not knowing our language is just plain stupid. How many of us know theirs? I've been in many a spanish party and honestly, other then the trouble communicating which we always find a way to do, they have all been wonderful. I've played with people from all over Europe. And I love it. I get to meet people I wouldn't have had the chance to meet. My only issue with this is I really wish se would update the stupid autotranslate function to incorporate the languages of the countries who were included in the latest release. It would really make everything a lot easier.

Well.

Just the other day I met a "Spanish pt only." response to a invitation to party.

o.O;;

On another note, when I party with other Singaporeans and we chat alternatively between slang/dialects/English, we never have a problem with other players. Perhaps the OP was directed to those Spaniards who were rude or inconsiderate in general towards him. Generalisation is bad, however, since all races/nationalities are afflicted by the same immature players.

This, however, must be the most racist MMO I've ever played. >.< Chill out guys...

p.s. Singapore is not in China.

Agreed. I'm not bashing Spansih folks in particular though, but it has been mostly Spanish people that have been downright rude and irritating in PTs. Several of them. I'm met rude people of every kind of person XI is available to, but they are taking the cake. They never use /tell, they always shout their convos over entire maps, and when they are ready to log, they just log. Even mid fight, pull, etc. Or you get a ten second notice, I'm sleepy, bye. Just rude...
#63 Jan 09 2005 at 5:26 AM Rating: Default
...yet even as everyone says it's mean to be racist, it's from the same pool of people who always say, "JP ARE ALL RACIST ASSES, OMG THEY WANT JP ONLY THEY IGNORE MY /TELL WHEN I ASK THEM TO PT RACIST BASTARDS" - and things to that effect, though maybe not in caps lock.

I don't mean to be, sound, or come off as racist, but I do partially agree. I see people /s in JP sometimes, some talking /s english - but above all, I see more people, just as a mass, /s for just stupid long periods of time in spanish. I don't care if I'm walking and I see 2, 3, 5 people talking, whatever - but when I'm at the guild crafting, or doing AH work, and 20 minutes later I still keep seeing...

Whomever : <spanish> xD
Whomever2 : <spanish> jajajaja XD XD XD
Whomever : XD
Whomever3 : <spanish>

(the references to XD and "jaja~" are not meant to be racist, but as someone who does not speak any spanish it's the only common I can really see in it)

...it's kind of annoying. Further, I don't know if I just notice it more but most spanish-speaking players I see are more... "excessive". It's one thing to /t me and ask for a teleport. When I say no, that doesn't mean continue to /tell me - in spanish, which mind you, I still don't understand a bit of - for 5 minutes, apparently asking why I am not teleporting.

I'll be honest, I am a bit racist, but I don't mean to offend. It's hard not to be what I've lived around for so many years. Still though, if there is any problem with racism I see noone doing anything to help with it.

Valkurm and Qufim are now like, spanish colonies - yeah people will be people but the AH/guild mess where I see conversations go on for extended periods of time which can get irritating, it's like zone-wide now. Not to mention nearly every party I find in one of said 2 areas is at least partially, if not completely spanish.

I wouldn't care; in JP pt's I just let them talk japanese, I don't butt in or talk much regardless. But when I decline an invite, and the same person /t's me in spanish - then invites me again, repeating the process more than a dozen times over an hour... wow, really, no thanks.

Whatever, I can sense a vibe coming out of my post now... but it's just, things that are generally *annoying*, I just see spanish players do them *more* - NA and JP do it too, much I see it come bundled more often with "XD XD" than "lol" or "ww"~

Since this topic got dug up again I'll post my opinion (if I haven't already, I didn't see a post by me). I don't really have a problem communicating my ideas to people in a spanish or italian party. And even though I know absolute crap about spanish or other romance languages, I can still comprehend a bit or ask what a word means and someone usually can help me.

Actually, over the weekend I managed to lvl from 20 to almost 27 on my thief in korrokola tunnel. Doesn't sound like a giant feat to some but it was to me because I rarely level anymore. Why do I bring it up? Because almost every single one of them spoke spanish, about half as many were italian speaking players, and there was even 2 or three japanese speaking players in the parties. The only problem that arises for me is that I like to learn about other people and their cultures and it proves difficult sometimes when I can't fully communicate to players.

Only way I've found to fix that problem was that I can have my lap top next to me and babelfish some phrases in about any of the languages needed. The auto translator is lacking in some areas such as general phrases for random BSing but a little effort can go a long way. Also, the problems some of the people have with "spanish" players just logging out, maybe you got unlucky and had a bad experience just don't stereotype all of a culture because of that bad experience. We don't like it when japanese speaking players or other players disrespect us because of the bad experience they've had with some of us fellow NA players so don't disrepect spanish players because of one bad experience. I know I'm babbling, I'm watching a movie and it's distracting me >_>

I really dont understand why people are making a fuss over this whole "omg stop talking spanish I cant understand you" trash -_-;
I sometimes wonder what the jp people thought of the NAs when they first started... It's funny how ppl forget that they too where once "n00bs" and acted the same way at one point. If every NA and JP can go around talking in say or shout spurting out conversations across town and lv areas I think that the spanish folk have the same right. Amazing how everyone forgets all the pointless shouting conversations done by many other ethnic groups when they want to complain about something.

It's annoying when a whole conversation is typed, in any language, w/out the /t cmd.
And any new player isn't so hot in a pt.
ie...mages never rest...some just stand there not meleeing

They'll learn.

I'm a spanish mithra. I like this game, it's very fun, but this comments....i don't believe that some people think this things. What's your problem??? don't understand my language?? i'm sorry, but i don't understant your language.
When i do pt, and there are english or japanese people, i try speak in english, but there are words that i don't understand so if there is a spanish person in the party, i talk with him in spanish. Because i want that he translates me.
When yo go and see spanish conversations, it's because ragnarok is the spanish's server.... well, all the spanish are there, because we want to can speak in our language in a english and japanese game. In Europe can't buy the game in spanish, because Square Enix doesn't translate it, and a lot of gamers talk spanish! All S. America, Spain and Miami XD. (XD = lol).
Only a thing more.... The world isn't North Amenica or Japan.

And i'm sorry, but my english isn't good.

Good luck in the game.... for all XDDDD

I really hate seeing threads like this about Oh Japanese can't do this, NA players are rude, Euorpean players can't speak our language.

Nefthis- I understood pretty much what you said, even though a few words were left out, but that is the way you understand our language and I /salute you for even trying.

To the OP...not trying to be mean...Wait til real life if you want to try to get things done..You will learn to give a little and get a little..

I understand spanish a little but Japanese none at all..So if I have a Japenese player in my party I always always try to use their customs that I know about. I think "Please" "Thank You" are in the Translater and everyone in the world know that this is a form of politiness.

Like many people have said before me, it's not the character/job/language barrier, it's the player's attitude that you party with...Sure we have all partied with bad NA's, JP's, EP's. Does that give you a right to bad mouth whole race in general no. if your going to party with a certain someone that is bad then post

/rant, I partied with a bad player "name" he did this...Not because oh spanish speaking people are rude and don't know how to play..

I might as well comment and make people mad at me.

I believe in complete equality, not this equality crap that we think is going on.

I think things like Black Entertainment Televison should be not allowed, or latin music awards and all stuff like that. Or womens only clubs.

I am white male fyi. So why should these not be aloud. Well if we made an all white entertainment television what would happen. We would be a bunch of red necks, racist jerks. And be laughed at because the name of the station would be W.E.T. Same goes for womens only clubs, in canada along time ago we had mens only clubs, women went to court, they are now not allowed but its ok to have womens only clubs, hmm anything wrong with that.

Sure the past was not fair, or even close to fair but at some point we have to move forward and try to have the same rules across the boards.

So how does this tie into the subject. We as NA, or white or whatever, have to comform to everyone elses needs or we are racist. Japanese parties, like UNC said we try to follow their customs, but why, why cant they follow ares or why cant spanish people follow ours, or wow, how bought this, we find a middle ground.

So before shouting racist, think, is there any attempt by others to find the middle ground or do we always have to conform to to the minority.

Again this post may sound racist but as i said, I believe that everyone should have the same rules, no one should be allowed special treatment whether in rl or in the game. this is a dream of mine whether possible or not.

To comment about posts from months ago, yes, everyone going through the dunes the first time is a n00b and sucks at life, spanish or not. So now 6 months have passed since this post was started. The people in the dunes going through there first time still suck. However... at my current level (70BLM) how come whenever one member of the party is completly retarded and is totally ruining the flow of it, whether its a tank who cant hold hate, a white mage that does nothing whatsoever besides his strongest possible cure spell, or a DD who cant skillchain to save there lives, 90 percent of the time, they're spanish? I'll say stuff like, hey, either do your job right or ill warp you and get a replacement, and they're response is usually "jajaja xD {I'm sorry}." So i guess i'll close in saying this, not all spanish are bad players, just the 200+ that ive partied with. So I dont want someone to say im generalizing an entired county and make me look like some racist.

I found the middle ground is just being polite and respectful. I do this no matter what type of party I am in. I try to be polite when I ask someone to party with me, and to be quite honest, I get rather upset when some J players don't answer me simply because I used the auto translate function. That's fine if you don't want to party with me because of the language barrier. It's fine if you don't want to party with me because I'm NA. Just have the same respect I've shown you and give me an answer. A simple no thanks is all I ask.

I have found that for the most part though, when I have mixed parties, the J players are trying to adapt to us as we are to them. I got a giggle the last party I had that was 3 NA and 3 J players. We all got to where we were meeting and the NA's bowed to the J's while we got waves in return. Just was a perfect example of each side trying to adapt, and I loved it.

I don't care which language you speak or where you come from, if you are polite and respectful to others in your party, I will welcome to chance to play with you at any time.

I noticed the jp changing also. In fenrir pt last night, of course it had to be full moon at time and we couldnt dent him, but the jp seems alot more relaxed then they were a year ago.

It took a while but they seem to be trying.

Then i see a jp advertising a jp only bcnm run. (hopeing only cause of language)
