RANT* Insensitive Giddeus Farmers * RANTFollow

Ok straight to the point -

I've just begun leveling SMN (currently @ lvl 9 1ktnl) and have been using Giddeus as my early leveling zone (starting at lvl 7 - worms are great for any job that can attack from a distance.) This is an extremely dangerous zone for a low level player, as aggro can come from any direction - those birds seem to pop anywhere and everywhere. Killing the dirt eaters with Carbuncle during lvl 7 and 8 warrents 140-200 exp per kill - and if you're using a mithkabob and a staff - the kills happen very quickly.

About an hour before maitenance last night - I had moved deeper into the cave to fight tier II worms (earth eaters) at level 9. There is a spot if you drop down the hole @ G-7 and then proceed to the small hallway between the two Bastok mission Named monsters areas that only pops earth eaters. There is almost always at least 1 worm spawned - and if you kill them quick enough - just as you kill 1 another spawns and its a constant 160-200 exp per kill.

SO here I am - fighting worms in a dreadfully dangerous area - yet safe from death. Scroll of instant warp ready to take me away when I hit lvl 10 - and a lvl 45+ player runs by (I didn't /check but he had on Brigadine armor so I know he was high enough level to kill 100 of anything at the same time in the caves I was sitting in.) Behind him follows 4 Pipers, and 3 of whatever the monk birds are, straggling behind them are about half a dozen Alcolytes. I assume at first this player is farming - maybe for the gil or necklaces dropped. However - he snickered as he ran by. /em snickers @ Alphire (my character's name).

At this point I wondered if he was a)trying to scare me, b)trying to be funny, or c)going to murder me.

Roughly 9 minutes later - I am 700 TNL - and the birds all start to come back. The player had obviously zoned all those mobs and they were walking back to their original spawn points. I was dead within 10 seconds of seeing the first one - scroll failed to activate etc.

Back to windurst I go - to log out in my Mog only 10 minutes before maitenance started.

Was it worth it?

p.s I accepted the consequence of leveling in a Dangerous Zone - but even still - what a jerk :(

Always, always, ALWAYS notify if you are zoning ANYTHING. How hard can that be? I guess the lesson to learn here is if someone snickers at you, run. To play devil's advocate, it's possible they lost control of their train and either zoned or died before having a chance to notify, and didn't mean to do kill you. But the snicker is kind of suspicious. Good luck with SMN.

Not to be an *** as your advice is sound but I would be very surprised if this matter isn't already resolved, either by actually reporting the "****" or by the OP forgetting about this altogether.

As for MPK-ing...it's not always intentional (although in the case of the guy that got the OP killed it probably was). I've accidentally done it in Giddeus once when I had pulled a train of Yagudos and was trying to add some that was hanging around a hole. Of course clumsy old me stepped to close and dropped, something that the Yagudos were to smart to do, they ran around to try to trap me downstairs. When I ran up some poor guy had been run over by the train. Fortunately I could raise him but I really felt bad about it.
