While I'm in full on geek mode, I don't dare not make a thread about the The Amazing Spider-Man movie as well. I'd be an *** to not. Two trailers for Mr. Parker as well, the first one a preview aired during the Captain America movie, and the second just recently released. First being pretty standard, ho hum fare.

The second, however, shows great promise. The last three, Sam Raimi, movies were good (Okay, maybe not so much the third one ...). Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the heck out of them, but there was something missing. Parker being a smart ***. That's a huge part of his character, and I just don't feel it lived up to that. Again, obviously it's a trailer so you can't draw conclusions. But a few lines in the second trailer really have my hopes up. Also we're going with Gwen Stacy, and Dennis F'in Leary as George Stacy! Martin Sheen as Ben Parker is an interesting choice as well. Good actor, but I kind of thought the last guy looked the part. Speculation on my behalf, but sequels mean a chance to live ac -- well, CGI the Bridge Scene, which I will openly admit I will probably cry. This one, though, strictly introductary (well, except for Ben obviously ...), so I doubt they'll get that far. Anyway, here's the newer, better, commercial.

Edit 1: I haven't seen J. Jonah. Jameson yet. I don't guess it's too late to ask for J.K. Simmons again, is it?

Edit 2: Oh, and mechanical WEBSHOOTERS! /squee

Edit 3: And no Bruce Campbell. That kind of disappoints me. I was always saying how awesome it would be if he showed up as Mysterio, and go on a long rant about how he knew who Spider-Man was, and how he was always there and Peter never noticed. That would have been awesome. A geek can dream, I guess.

I have to say, that second trailer does look quite promising. I wasn't considering the movie to be honest, but I probably will go and see it.

And yes, J.K. Simmons is J. Jonah Jameson.

I still feel like it's too soon for a reboot, but whatever.

Emma Stone Smiley: inlove

I am right in thinking she's playing Felicia Hardy, right?

Edit: Never mind, it's Gwen Stacy. Derp.

You say that as though you expect them to completely follow the comics.

Well they kind of did in the 1st one, but out of order lol.

But yea, she has/will die.

An Ultimate Spider movie line would be neat...because ya'know... Peter die.

Well, eventually. Doubt it'll last very long. Though, the new book hasn't been that bad. A little directionless, but I'm reading it and I don't even like the Ultimate line.

But yeah, Emma Stone is a stone cold hottie. Funny, though. Emma is a natural redhead, and is playing blonde Gwen Stacy here. Kirsten Durst is a natural blonde, who played redhead Mary Jane Watson in the other Spidy movies.

Well, I find it funny.

Yea I didn't read the 1st set of ultimate spider man because I couldn't afford to buy comics Smiley: laugh but I am liking the new line. I wont be shocked if there was some kind of time paradox when Miles gets better and we get a new Ultimate Spider line. One where Miles goes back, and helps Peter (thus him not kicking the bucket) and we get 2 Spider Men. Smiley: rolleyes

And agreed with Emma Stone. She is a pretty lady.

What is this bridge scene you speak of? Thought this was supposed to be a more accurate reboot/retelling?

Didn't save her, snapped her neck.

Peter did not take it well, but later settled for a supermodel he later married before selling his marriage to the devil in order to save Aunt May & have a secret identity again.

Re: Bridge scene - I read somewhere that she was apparently already dead from the shock before Spidey tried to save her. Apparently that was the Green Goblin's theory any way. Scared herself to death or whatever.

Well, for years ti was Peter snapped her neck while trying to save her. Then they retconned it to, "Oh, before her death, she took pity on Norman & had his love children" before returning to Peter's life & dying before she could tell him.

The fan base was not amused, despite JMS' good run prior to this.

So I can't find it online, yet, but at the end America's Got Talent there was a 4min sneak peek. It was a really awesome trailer.

There seems to be an angle that Peter's accident may not have been so.

But yea, maybe tomorrow (or in a few more hours?) it will be up and y'all can see it.

I just saw an extended preview during today's episode of Eureka. It's looking good.

I don't know if you saw the same one, but it's a bit more than a "seems to be". What I assume was the Lizard's voice talking about Spiderman's transformation not being an accident.

Of course, I never followed the comic books as a kid or even now, so I'm not too familiar with the universe beyond the various cartoons that have existed.
