So I'm really late on this, but I just saw the movie.

By strange coincidence, I just barely saw this tonight as well(you're not my kid sister, are you?).

Quixotically, I thought the movies succeeded best when taken as an action film. The fight scenes were far above the quality of those seen in actual action movies.
I have to agree. The fight scenes were amazingly hilarious and pretty awesome. It also had some hilarity elsewhere, but much of the rest of the movie was just painfully awkward.

The amp vs amp battle made the movie imo. I didn't realize Beck still had it in him, but Threshold is an amazing song. Even the chiptune version is great.

I noticed that the Evil Exes had matching numbers appear during their fights. For example Patel kept posing as a number one (or the Statue of Liberty), Lee had a number 2 on his car, and Todd had the number 3 on his shirt. Not sure about the others though. I was thinking that Roxy's torn jacket at the club fight formed a number 4 (but that's kind of stretching it), and I couldn't figure where the twin's and Gideon's numbers were displayed. Did anyone else spot them?

The bar itself was numbered "4".

See, and that's why I need to not fast forward to the fights. And I just remembered that the Chaos Theater was intro'd as Level 7.

Super late to the thread but I just watched this on demand last night... and again today. I <3 this movie. I did not think I was going to like it but it's campy and clever thing just seems to work. Plus its tailor made to my genre of things. Video games, martial arts, indy rock. I think the comic book author grew up on the same stuff I did.

I'll have to pick up some of the comics now.

Watched it tonight because nothing says Thanksgiving like Pilgrims. Except it was set in Canada so I guess I actually watched it a month or so too late. Do Canadians have pilgrims?

Anyway, I thought it was amusing and interesting to watch the once but I don't know that I'll ever be inspired to watch it again. I didn't actively hate Michael Cera in this one for playing Michael Cera so that's saying a little something. Had some funny lines and bits and the composition was interesting but, having seen its schtick the once, I think I'm good.

Edit: Hooooooly ****, I thought the last reply was from the 26th of this month. Sorry for the necro.

Just saw it and it managed to be more freaky than I had imagined.

Funny moments in there (Scott diving out the window to avoid Knives was hilarious), but I still think Cera was the wrong choice. Unless the comic also portrayed Scott as an unattractive, effeminate and frail person capable of romancing every single hot chick in the room with his awkwardness.

Mostly, the movie was mind-blowing. I literally felt my cerebral cortex sizzle and pop during a couple of scenes. Also, with Pill, Winstead and Wong, the movie suffered from a serious cute chick overload. By the way, did anyone else get the impression they somehow enlarged Winstead's eyes?

Since this was necro'd, I'm just going to be leaving this here.

Just an FYI, it is a real comic, too.

If it makes you feel better, I'm not either. In fact, I always thought he was a terrible actor. But this movie was still amazing. I'd say he did a really good job with it.
