October 13th! A little earlier than I had thought it would be.

Didn't they announce the time right at the end of season 3, and also didn't the last season also start at that same time?

Looks awesome. It's good to see they won't be staying in the prison forever.

I stand corrected. Smiley: blush
Season 1- October 31, 2010.
Season 2- October 16, 2011.
Season 3- October 14, 2012.
For some reason I thought they started up later. Did you notice that Herschel has a prosthetic leg?

Guess they got tired of digitally painting over it every episode. Trailer looks good. I hate to admit, but it's been so long that I don't remember much of what happens between the end of the Jail Arc and the current one in the books. Also, considering the twists in the series, I don't feel all that confident in knowing how the rest of this particular storyline is going to play out beyond the broadest of broad concepts. Which, you know, is a good thing. The best part of the TV show is how it diverges from the books, after all. The people that are supposed to be alive aren't, and one that is supposed to die I can't imagine they doing on screen if at all. Either way, October can't get here soon enough.

My wife and I just finished watching seasons 1-3 over the course of about 5 days.

We kept expecting the Governor to die. We wanted him to so badly... they way we wanted Shane to, who finally did. But no, he just keeps on trucking along, making an *** out of himself, killing his own people and such.

What I don't get is how if they are all already infected-- why then is a bite from a zombie still a death sentence? They already have whatever the mystery pathogen is in their blood, yet it does nothing until they either die or are bitten by a zombie. Are they all "zombie HIV positive" and just don't get full blown "zombie AIDS" until a zombie bites them or they die?

I'd say because of the massively higher concentration of the virus transported via the bite.

I say it's the massive blood loss from the bite that weakens the body to the point that the virus/bacteria overwhelms the white blood cells.

I'm going to just assume that once death occurs and the body is reanimated, the virus is modified (now living in a dead host, its life cycle changes) and becomes something like a very aggressive form of rabies. And while the non modified strand in living hosts is relatively harmless, the aggressive form from a dead host acts quickly.

Because even small bites turn people quickly. Like the guy in season 1, relatively small bite to the torso, and he starts developing a fever and hallucinating within 12-24 hours.

I imagine all that decomposition entering the blood stream, along with blood loss, stress and adrenaline pumping it through the system at an accelerated rate, can't be good for the body just by itself.

Any speculations as to where the assumed virus came from? I have a feeling the last handful of episodes will revolve around its origin. I want to say aliens.

Virus is actually recessive part of human genetic code, time/extraterrestrial radiation causes it to go active.

Books are up to 100+ issues and they haven't yet, but to counter that the show doesn't follow the book, and to counter that it would be a pretty big reveal and would be highly surprising it wouldn't be in the books first ...

It was pretty good. The whole zombie sky diving certainly happened at a really convenient time, plot wise, but the zombies exploding as they hit the floor kinda made up for it. Also, Zombie-Swine Flu.

I thought it wasn't a bad episode. The whole zombie "death from above" was a neat touch. Does anyone think they'll make it to the middle of the season before they vacate the prison? Sooner than that, or drag it into the second half?

I gave up on this program a couple of episodes into Season 3, it was just so slow. I'll have to pick up where I left off I guess, if I want to continue watching. New season means book 9 is out (it was actually out last month) and is now on its way to me (Yay)! I love the comic, and I loved season one of the show, but it really started to slack when Darabont stepped down and Marzzara took over. Season 2.2 at the farm was torture, with the exception of the finale which is probably my favorite episode of the show (that I've seen).

I don't know if it's me, but I think having followed the comics the show never quite lives up to your ideal?

[I'll confess: I'm more excited about season 3 of Comic Book Men]

I like that the show is kind of an alternate telling of the books, which is what keeps me watching. For the little, and big, differences between the two. Makes it interesting for me. Like this part, it's on a complete different direction than where the books were. Book 9 is ... about where Negan is, right? I can't say I've been enjoying the comics all that much since the whole city thing is just the jail arc on a slightly larger scale. The books really peaked there.

Posting mid-episode because I have to head out almost immediately, but it seems Michonne has caught Andrea's ineptivitus. Also, even the undead cannot resist the allure of bacon.

The first two episodes were pretty strong. I'm hoping they are gonna tell about what exactly happened between seasons 3 and 4, though.

Rick became a farmer, bonded with his son, & let the Council/Daryl take over leading the group. But just when he thought he was out, he got pulled back in...

Also, Tyrease bonded with a Woodbury lady & is now sad because she'd dead/murdered. There were also pigs for a short time. Someone on the inside, probably the new alcoholic kid, is trying to **** over the prison crew by feeding the zombies. He/she is probably doing so at the behest of the Governor.

Yeah thanks. Smiley: lol
Doesn't mean I don't want to see how at least parts of what happened played out. For example Carl going batsh*i crazy and recovering from that. He must have pulled some serious stuff for them to forbid him carrying a weapon in this environment. Or how the council was elected. The rebuilding of society and its rules was a pretty strong point in Kings The Stand (at least for me) so I think they could do some good flashbacks with that.

Of course I don't really want or need to see how they feed the piglets for the weeks/months between the seasons. The mundane stuff doesn't has to be retold. But some parts would interest me.

He shot that boy in front of Hershel. He's like... 10 (maybe not exactly, but he's a young kid), Rick and Hershel didn't like it. Not much more complicated than that. I wouldn't say he's "recovered" just that ****'s going down in the prison and Carl's basically saying "What choice do we have? Let me kill a bunch of kids."

I was wondering when they'd get to Tyreese's moment of awesome, where he clears out dozens of walkers in a fit of rage with his trusty hammer. Better late than never. I don't think the books dealt with actual illnesses like the show is currently doing, which is great in my opinion. It's not like colds and flus and such are just going to disappear during the apocalypse.
