Let me add, I think what really bugs me is how irritatingly hypocritical people are in this thread. I don't give two sh*ts about Twilight but when a bunch of people who have been invested in various forms of fandom and addicted to videogames, give some attitude to teenage girls for being rabid fans of something, it strikes me as retarded.
To most people, writing fanfiction of Inuyasha is ten times dorkier and more obsessive than liking Twilight, particularly as it lacks an adherence to a social phenomenon and doesn't have the attendance social benefit of promoting peer relationships. I'd defend people's right to like any fandom but not when you start giving attitude like you are too good for something.
So much hostility and I get it all! It's all mine! Mine, I tell ya!
Also, confusing hypocrisy with retardation is pretty odd. Furthermore, I think you misunderstand the entire thread, but who's keeping score anyway. It's not the story itself I'm after, it's the mania that has evolved from it. Yes, most of us are avid online game players, and as such we have no right dissing other people's hobbies, but that's not exactly what we are doing. Or at least not what I'm doing. It's the seemingly mindless mania that has sprouted from a mediocre book-turned-movie franchise that leaves me baffled and slightly disturbed. If you search YouTube for any song used in any Twilight movie soundtrack, you'll find pages of semi-desperate female viewers posting how much they love Twilight, how awesome this song is in Twilight, and how hot Edward is. I might be a World of Warcraft fan, but I guarantee you that if you go to a World of Warcraft related video on YouTube, I haven't written pages up and down about how much I love World of Warcraft, how awesome it is listening to this song while playing World of Warcraft, and how hot Tyrande is.
Finally, I don't do fanfiction. Ever.
