I'll be picking up the books soon. A Song of Ice and Fire, IIRC? I've been putting it off because I'm considering a Kindle. Now I'll probably wait until the HBO series is done so I don't have any spoilers.
The only downside of the TV series is they pack so much into every episode. You can't even take a leak; if you miss 2 minutes, you can easily miss one or two key storyline twists. It's also impossible to just tell a friend to start watching it. They'll be completely lost if they don't start at the first episode.
Swordfights, midgets, incest, treachery, backstabbing, savages, and mass nudity. How could it not be awesome?!

I'm afraid of how much they would have had to cut out... the books are incredibly in depth and detailed, so it's a miracle if they managed to actually preserve the story well.

Seeing the official notice for the new Ultimate Collection being released has me psyched to join you guys. I'm already making plans for what I want to do when I get back. The only thing I haven't decided on is what I'll eventually want for a third job. I know I want to finish PLD first, then I'll probably go WAR since it's my next highest job. After that, I have no idea.
This is, of course, assuming I can get my Galka back. If it turns out I can't, I think I may go Hume, and will probably do mage jobs.

I was sad I lost my char name and the game was never the same after that. It was like it wasn't me anymore and I just couldn't' get into it. I do agree that I really don't give two fu*ks that they are all being a bunch for damn cry babies about their mergers because like you said, they didn't give a **** when it was us upset. Let them whine..
