Facebook recently decided to offer up egg-freezing as a benefit to their female employees. Apparently this is a Silicon Valley thing.
The offer can be viewed a couple different ways:
- it simply offers women more choice as to when to have kids.
- it sends a message to the tech worker that family and career don't mix.
Regardless of how it's viewed by those in the biz or society in general, what I find kind of interesting it that we are essentially, but artificially expanding our generations.
What kinds of impacts could you imagine if it were the norm for kids to be raised in homes by middle and upper middle-aged parents?
If you had eggs and were in a position to save them for later use, would you?
