So, here's what seems to be the big to do tonight. Someone, likely a third party troll if I'm being honest, got a gay GG supporter's twitter account suspended. Additionally, Twitter rolled out a partnership with Women, Action & the Media
today(Edit: It may not have been today, that's just what I was getting from recent reports. May have been as far back as last Thursday.) which aims to reduce harassment by creating what sounds like something of a monitored fast lane for reporting harassment. It is not unreasonable to believe that this was used in this instance. There is also speculation that it was a multi-party report, but I haven't seen any actual confirmation, though
this looks like it might be. So that's "blowing up" tonight as it were.
Further information gives a bit of context. The person in question is Milo Yiannopoulos, the reporter from Breitbart, and it was his @nero account that got hit. I have personally never seen anything he's posted that I'd consider harassment, but he has said some things that might be reportable, despite not being targeted at any individual.
If this is the only major GG voice hit, then I figure it'll blow over. Heaven knows a lot of us figured it was only a matter of time before the non-GG things he said got him reported. If not, I suspect that this could turn into a ********* with WAM's fast lane getting pounded from both sides by reports and counter reports. Time will tell.
Edit: Milo's using his personal account(it was his professional one that got banned). I haven't seen anything on his other account's suspension, but
someone sent him a dead animal in the mail.
Edit: Temporary suspension has been lifted.
