Here in the US?

Yes, you just don't hear about them because mainstream media buries them to tell you about bombings in Iraq.

Nah. See, when all the major outlets have a news story out for something (as illustrated) you don't really need to look for it. I mean, unless you're somehow so inept at learning about the world around him that you can only find a single story on the BBC despite all the stories out there.

Some of the misinformation going around is quite frustrating. The New York Times reported 12 fatalities, but the last official count I heard was three. A few facebook friends are sharing this image:
Boston incorrect person

The problem? That girl wasn't the victim who died. The 8-year old was a boy named Richard Martin from Dorchester, and he wasn't running - he was waiting for his father at the finish line. I understand wanting to get an emotional appeal, but misinformation like this just strikes me as insulting; an attempt to get "Likes" and "Shares" rather than even portraying the truth.

The Boston Chief of Police went in front of all the reporters yesterday 'confirming' a third bomb going off at the Kennedy Library - which of course we know now didn't happen. But it was the Chief of Police!...you'd think he'd have confirmed that before spouting it into 14 microphones for the nation to hear.

@ peimei

That guy's observations & opinions totally convinced me that it wasn't a training exercise & it was totally a false-flag event.

Never mind, I live in reality & you're a fucking sucker. K-9s, snipers, & bomb squads are there every year, dumbass. Just because they prepared for it doesn't mean they knew it would happen. What's next? You think because our world class hospitals are prepared for this **** they knew it would happen too? If a ******* fire drill happens before a fire, it was set? 9/11 was an inside job? Kim Jong Un really found a unicorn cave?

I'm used to retardedness from the usual suspects, but this event has turned some of you into god damn freepers...

I don't doubt it, even if I don't think it's right. You think Canadians would behave differently in the same situation though? Fear overrides logic pretty much every time. It doesn't make it right, it makes us human. Upside is, like Patton Oswalt elegantly stated, "when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, The good outnumber you, and we always will."

If anything, that was proven in Boston today.

No we in Canada on a national level would have reacted the same way. Evidenced by the fact that our PM was the first world leader to condemn the events in Boston. Which I do as well. But the question remains, which of the same leaders condemn the bombings in Iraq. It is easy to say it happens all the time...it shouldn't, and people there should know we don't tolerate it, and support them as well. Especially when we are trying to help them become of nation of freedom and equality.

I could venture a tinfoil hat guess that yesterdays coordinated attack in Iraq, and the US will be linked, they will be done by the same group of people for one overall purpose. To spread fear to those who may vote in the Iraqi elections this week. To show them that even the infallible US the beacon of democracy and freedom isn't any different than downtown Baghdad and democracy doesn't change a damn thing.

That of course is just a hypothetical position based on what could simply be a coincidence.

If you felt offended by me and what I said, then perhaps it struck the right chord. Your country is looking 3rd world, and not just in the case of shootings and bombs, your countries education is in decline, its health system is broken, its economy is in shambles, it has an irreversible amount of debt. Your country is broken, and things like this happen to broken places.

This is the hypocritical west I talk of...we say its routine, happens all the time..a non-story. In iraq normal folks, like you and I who just trying to live life, take care of their kids and family, they get hurt just as much by the events of evil intentions. We want them to be friends with us, we want to show them that we are with them, if they are with us.

But I see no condemnations of bombings in Iraq, just more of the same "it happens all the time" sh*t.

When the world stops comforting America for its acts of evil intentions, maybe you will see my point. Maybe not. I don't care if you understand either way to be honest.

Lol, you waiting for the great nation to fall?

Shootings are far and away gang-related and/or domestic assaults (a gun control issue), bombings extremely rare. As for the rest, sure we're not number one across the board, but we're hardly a nation that is in prolonged social decline. Unless of course you're some whacko conspiracist that spends too much time listening to cut-rate news channels.

Oh I think everyone is waiting, it is going to be a huge change and it is going to happen because it always does. All empires must decline, it is how we grow culturally. It happened to England, it happened to Rome, it happened to Greece, it happened to Egypt.

The US has been in decline for over a decade. Rotting from the inside. You the people have willingly given up rights and freedoms, your economy has tanked, your debt is irreversible (based on how the American money system works) and you have an absurd amount of tragic events take place. Is it an everyday occurrence, no, but it doesn't need to be. There is something fundamentally wrong with your country and I don't think there is a big enough band-aid to fix it.

I may be a whacko conspiracist, but at least I am not a naive rationalist.

And using my psychology degree earned through years of arguing with Anna, I'd say you're a little too close to this specific incident, and given a few months distance from it, while you'll look back and think the freepers comments are insensitive, you likely won't find them nearly as offensive as you do now.

I think we need to put this back into perspective. Did the Sox win yesterday?

I'm pretty sure every world leader condemns every bombing in Iraq. I get that you have an issue that it isn't front page news all the time, but that's a consumer/media issue & not a product of us being a "3rd world" country.

My country has been arguably the toughest, most resilient, & most fiercely independent ever since Patriots battled at Lexington & Concord over 200 years ago, yesterday. If our country was broken more people would have run from the blasts rather than towards them, yesterday. While certainly not perfect, our education system trained many, many people on how to protect & save lives that wouldn't have been saved otherwise yesterday - and if it happened anywhere else I can guarantee the loss of life would have been worse. The victims were treated at some of the best hospitals in the world where some of the best doctors & nurses in the world trained at the local schools that are also some of the best in the world. This little city has more higher education, more world class hospitals, & more highly trained Doctors than most countries. Our economy is improving & any and all dollars needed to deal with the aftermath of this tragedy are being allocated & distributed.

Ya, we've got a lot of debt, but despite Ron Paul's opinion we're actively paying it down. The plans Obama set in his first term should get us $2.5 trillion payed off, more than halfway to his 10 year goal of $4 trillion.

Quote:

You really are trying to be a cunt, aren't you? If our country was broken, the red cross wouldn't of had to stop blood donations yesterday due to having too much.

Are. You. @#%^ing. Dense? Sure, western coutnries tend to put western news first, just as I'm sure Canadian news puts Candian news first & Iraqi news puts Iraqi news first.

This is a consumer/media issue, not a product of a broken country.

Oh this is cute. When has the world EVER "comforted" American when we've @#%^ed up? Just because we fuck up doesn't mean we have evil intentions; it just means we're human.

Oh, you're certainly whacko-ly naive when it comes to your understanding America & my city in particular.

Does rationalizing the decline of America fix real problems? Comfort fears?

Its ok guys we have only been on a sinking ship for 10 years now, any day the pumps will start working and we will ride high again.

America is in decline, get over it.
