The Maine mural is back in my local headlines today. A few years ago the states Department of Labor was erecting a new building. They commissioned a local artist to paint a mural which depicted..."the value and dignity of workers and their critical role in creating the wealth of the state and nation."

It wasn't such a bad mural. It was large and filled a whole wall. Apparently it anti-corporation though. It was also our then newly elected Gov. Lepage's first battle against the worker. He ordered the mural removed.

He's governor, he can do that. It was stupid, pointless, it created needless division and served no purpose. Furthermore the battle of the mural is STILL costing tax-payer money. A couple union reps and an artist sued Lepage. Something about squelching free speech. The plaintiffs lost the case but appealed. It's being heard down in Boston today.

I only hope that Mr. Lepage has had some second thoughts about his first actions as governor of our great state of Maine. See the mural and read the story HERE.

In other news my boss is psychotic and I'm feeling the depressive weight of all the cold, dark, drives home from work to come. It's SO hard to muster up any energy in the evenings this time of year.

We had a flash mob yesterday and many of those crazy people doffed their blaze orange. Lucky no one was shot.

The water works building in the city I grew up with had a wonderful relief in cement on the outside wall along the same theme - bunch of workers with axes and shovels and stuff.

Except it was done in a neo-classical style, and they were all naked.

The city never bothered to clean it, so you didn't notice with all the black mold running down the sides of it, until you got up close and studied it, and then saw all the worker men had no pants.

The whole thing is ridiculous IMO.
