http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/09/why-i-refuse-to-vote-for-barack-obama/262861/

While the histrionics of the liberal author are what I expect from that side of the philosophical and political fence, the gist of the article is that Obama has become everything and more of what the Left accused Boooooosh and Cheney of during their tenure. The boogeyman spectre of a government that does not answer to its' people, nor adheres to the values it campaigned on is at the heart of why Conor Friedersdorf does not intend to vote for Barry this time around. And, from my perspective, outside of the pearl necklace clutching sentiment of the piece, he has it pretty much nailed.

Asylum? Your thoughts?

1. While I understand the issues involved with the "Drone War" in Pakistan, I find it a more practical solution than committing ground troops into Pakistan.

2. I have no issues with putting American Citizens, whom join terrorist groups in foreign countries, on "kill lists". I wouldn't be as comfortable if they were used on US soil, though.

3. I have no issues with how we supported the Libyan rebels. I'd prefer they form a pro-western government, but that really isn't our call.

Not voting for the member of your political party because you dislike his execution of it's platform is childish and petulant. Obama's weak and easily manipulated. He also nominates very liberal SCOTUS justices, which really, is all that matters to me in a President. Particularly during this coming term.

As compared to the placid unemotional tripe you get from Limbaugh, Beck or O'Reilly?

Smiley: lol

Despite all his failures, I'm voting for Obama. I want a two-term president that won't point the country in wrong the direction.

...and he's hip.

So Elinda, for the past four years we've been pointed in the right direction?!? Yikes. Scary to contemplate what constitutes a wrong direction for you.

Sincerely,
8.2% unemployment
$13 Trillion in debt
A list of woes that stretches around the block like a casting call for American Idol

I didn't say we had moved at all. Only that we are pointing forward.

My wife and I have increased our household income by around 30% in the past couple years. I assume everyone else who hasn't is some self-entitled leech who wants free housing, food, medical care... I'll never convince them to take personal responsibility for their lives anyway so why blame Obama?

You sure you're not a Republican, Jo? All that money being made off the backs of the 99%-- you should be ashamed of your 30% increase in wealth, mister! As a Lefty in good standing, I trust you are placing that monetary fruit picked from low hanging branches squarely in the competent hands of our Federal Government in addition to the low, low taxes you already pay.

We're not at the 2-4% we were at during the dotcom bubble, but we're sitting around 6% in MA.

Something like that.

He has a much-hyped ability to see across the aisle which has proven largely worthless. Spent the first 2 years rubber-stamping whatever the Democrats sent his way because there was no reason to compromise. Then when faced with a split congress he was largely unable to do much, as Republicans in congress weren't going to give any ground with the resurgent far-right threatening them in the primaries.

So meh. At this point the only reason I'd vote for him again is because I'm not keen on Romney. Thinking I just won't fill in that bubble or something. Anyone know a random 3rd party that would like a vote? Smiley: rolleyes

I'm not blaming Obama for keeping me down and saying the reason I can't prosper is all due to regulations and the health care law so I don't think I'm a Republican...

Maybe if I made up more excuses to cover for my lack of drive and ability. Think the GOP would want me then?

It's just weird. Seems like they put a lot of stress on the 'H' in Hussein, too. When speaking aloud, I mean.

Nice dodge there, Jo. You performed that like a Lefty pro, what with your hand firmly grasping the cash your political kith and kin vilify, all the while avoiding the largesse to unfortunates you stridently call for as a mandate via our national tax system. To judge from your obvious greed, where you blatently stole income from other more deserving souls-- after all, financial success is a sure marker of corruption, unsavory and unethical business practices, and most likely offshore tax shelters --you have the heart of a wicked, wicked capitalist.

Brand thyself with a scarlet "C", young Jophiel Prynne, thou Wall Street harlot! I shun theeeeee!

Impossible. I thought the Lefty Pros were all driving welfare Cadillacs. Here I am, working hard and getting ahead and you just mock me for it. Sure you're not a... liberal??

But if you want to call me a dirty capitalist, that's fine. Out of a sample size of me, 100% of capitalists support Obama! Hooray!
