In less than 12 hours, the President of the United States will be giving a speech literally right across the street from where I live, at the Florida Institute of Technology. I wasn't able to get tickets for my family to see him up close, but I'm hoping I'll at least be able to hear what's going on just by standing outside my apartment. All the roads will be blocked off apparently and I have no idea how I'm going to get to work, but I'm excited nonetheless.
I'm not one to make a big deal about celebrities, but for some reason its just a huge honor to be in such close proximity to the President. Even when George W. Bush was in office, I felt honored when he waved to my little brothers from his motorcade, even though I wasn't there, even though I loathed him. It's kind of depressing to also see all the haters gearing up. I'm actually kind of worried. Florida Teabaggers are a particularly uncouth species, and here in Melbourne, the typical Obama supporter can be pretty aggressive as well.
