For those that appreciate a good election year joke, McCotter's story should provide a couple yucks.
McCotter is currently a US rep for Michigan (R). His seat is up for re-election. Word on the street is, he should win the contest hands-down. However, McCotter has failed to provide an acceptable petition to get on the primary ballot - he only needed 1000 signatures. For whatever reason his petition was filed with only 244 unique signers that were then photocopied over and over onto the petition.
His plans, for the moment, are to run as a write-in candidate.
This is stinging little slap to the cheek to the RNC. Not only is it a bone-headed move that could cost the pubbies a seat, it's in an area that was just redistricted to bolster the republican vote.
