Yikes! They had to hack and slash at my mouth to get mine out so it was pretty involved.
Yeah, there was hacking and slashing involved. I remember quite clearly when the dentist made that first cut of my gum. That didn't hurt as the novocaine actually numbed that area, but I could feel the skin separated and the warm blood gush out into my mouth.
The pulling and yanking and yanking and pulling was the sucky part though. It seemed like the roots of my wisdom teeth went all the down my neck and shoulders and into my arms - places the novocaine never came close to placating.
I was 18 and under-the-gun to get the work done before I fell off my parents insurance. My dentist was really mean but had come highly recommended a few years prior. I'm pretty sure he got much enjoyment from giving pain to snotty little teen girls. I still have two perfect gold fillings, though, that he put in my mouth over thirty years ago.
