Yeah totally nuts, especially considering that there ARE users of that service who post their own material... yes, lots of stuff is pirated but seems a little heavy handed to shut paying customers off of a service without any proof they are using it for illegal means.
Crazy. Seriously, this stuff makes me hate the motion picture industry so much that I want to be sure they don't get a single cent from me.
Also lol at their totally bogus numbers. $500 million? Yeah, cause every person that downloaded a film would have paid 20 bucks to buy the DVD if it hadn't been available to pirate, amirite?
I'm really looking forward to hearing from content creators who used that site to promote their own material on this issue.
I mean this was just posted last month: Quote:
In a 4 minute track produced by Printz Board, P Diddy, Will.i.am, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown, The Game, Mary J Blige , Kim Kardashian, Floyd Mayweather, Jamie Foxx and more sing about how wonderful Megaupload is.
“When I got to send files across the globe, I use Megaupload,†declares Will.i.am, an artist signed to labels owned by RIAA-members Warner and Universal.
“When i’m sending my hits out I use Megaupload, ‘cos it’s fast. I can receive hits and I can send ‘em out,†declares P Diddy, an artist signed to Interscope, a label owned by Universal.
Kanye West, signed to Universal-owned Def Jam, likes to use Megaupload “…because it’s the fastest and safest way to send files – period.â€
Alicia Keys, who is signed to Sony-owned RCA, says she uses Megaupload “….because I know that I can get my music safely and quickly -and you know that i’m serious about my music.â€
Snoop Dogg, signed to EMI-owned Priority, uses it “…because it keeps the kids off the street,†and The Game (Universal) says that even his lawyers know he uses it, “…and I got plenty of them.â€
