I was inspired/prodded to stain the futon like I've been saying I'd do for several months years. Two hours of manual labor later, my couch is a nice shade of mahogany. I have the option of sanding it and adding a second layer of finish later, but honestly I like the color the single coat imparted.

Next part of Getting an Adult Living Room is to replace the cover on it, and at that point, our entertainment center, couch, and coffee table will *gasp* all match.

Lolgaxe is a really bad golfer. Presumably, the painkillers are for the blisters on his hands from 7 1/2 hours in the sand trap.

I hate golf so much.

Twain said it best: "Golf: The Perfect Way To Spoil A Good Walk".

Stupid golf.

But I grew up in Augusta, GA, where really the only thing to do as a teenager on a Saturday afternoon is walk the two miles to the driving range and take out your aggression on a bucket of balls. Smiley: lol

I'm a low 90's golfer. I think that's pretty good, considering that I only play a couple of times a year.

It's been a couple years since I really played though. It'd be nice to get back in to it. There was a $16 golf course called Grover Cleveland next to campus at Buffalo that we used to go to pretty often. I finally got my clubs again, so I'll have to look for a budget course in central NJ to hit up next summer.

Nicest course I've played was Morefar, which was owned by AIG. Crazy nice course, like something you'd see the Cleary family in Wedding Crashers at. Picturesque landscaping, and statues hidden throughout the course, in sand traps and out in the woods, english garden-style. It was also hard as fuck.

Found an interesting blog post about it.

I golf in multiple fairways, so I feel your pain. I ended up on the wrong green once, and had to ask around to find out how to handle that.

Can you get strikes in the adjacent lane? I've seen someone do that, and not on purpose.

I didn't go Bowling this weekend. Smiley: frown

I was kind of raised in a bowling alley. They had free childcare for the moms in the daytime women's league - my Mom was a bowling freak.

Out here, many of the bowling alleys are strictly candlepin bowling. I'd not ever heard of the sport before coming to New England. You use a smaller wooden ball with no holes that you throw at 10 smaller wooden pins. No pin clearing between balls.

I went and saw Puss and Boots this weekend. I liked it. The 3-D was fun, but didn't really add much to the movie. Check out the new vid by Peter Jackson (the video is mid-way down the page and about 10mins long - but worth watching) though about The Hobbits 3-Dness. I can't wait. Smiley: grin

IU don't know if I'll be able to sit through The Hobbit. I've enver read any of the books, but every time the movies focused in on any of the Hobbits, I drifted off. I was very disappointed none of them died.

I could probably list The Hobbit as one of my Life-time top 5 favorite books. You should read it.

I've never seen that, though I have seen a weird strike before: my friend bowled such a hard gutter ball that it actually kicked out off of the gutter's corner at the end, and flew back out into the pins, clearing them all out.

This.

Bilbo is a much better character than Frodo any way. I was personally annoyed when I started reading LotR and found that Bilbo wasn't the central character.

I know! Frodo is pretty dull compared with Bilbo. I guess the story needed a dullard hobbit to work. Bilbo never would have agreed to walking into Mordor.

Or if he had it would have been like the HISHE version.
