The newest coffee shop in town is a little place owned and operated by a nice down-to-earth young artsy couple.
They have good coffee and ok food. They also a decent selection of wines and micro-brews....and chocolate.
This morning I bought a chocolate bar. It's classy Italian stuff that I paid five bucks for. I just tapped into it. There was the slightest bit of white on the corner - ya know like chocolate gets with age and/or moisture. So, I check the for a date on the thing and sure enough the best used by date was last month. The price tag was intentionally placed over the date.
I'm kinda pissed. Not that my chocolate is old - it still tastes pretty good. It's more that I was duped. I didn't read the small print. I didn't uncover the small print. My own fault for not being an informed shopper, right?
The shop has a fb page. I just now typed out a message on their wall simply stating the facts about my chocolate bar - but then I didn't post it. They're a new, little teeny small business that relies heavily on local word of mouth. I'd hate to fuck things up for them. But still, I feel deceived. If it has been an $0.89 Hershey bar that was just past expiration, I think it would not even register in my head as an issue.
Is a fb posting going too far?
