You do, maybe. The rest of the English speaking world calls it sight-reading.

What the hell does sight reading have to do with memorization?

Maybe instead of using actual sheet music, he reads it off the web.

Not yet. A few more years of intense practice and dedication and who knows. Of course this kind of thing takes time and hard work so it's probably best you don't dwell on it to much.

Actually, it doesn't take that long at all unless you have severe short term memory problems.

clearly you have never tried to actually learn to play an instrument well then. Ive been playing guitar for 5 years and know maybe 20 songs, Ive been playing piano for 7-8 and know about 15. Then again technically I know a lot more than that because I can read the music that goes with it, but sometimes you just don't have the sheet music to go with it. Then you are forced to playing from memory, which usually equates to being able to play by ear.

Clearly some of us are just better at reading music and retaining knowledge than others.

Not everyone is Noda Megumi.

Then again, I'm a vocalist. I hear it, I can sing it from memory in a few tries, on pitch or with improvised harmony. I'm sure any pianist who plays seriously can eventually do the same on piano.

I know I don't come 'round here much anymore, but I can guarantee the Asylum this: I will, next summer, put forth a sincere effort to obtain video of varus playing the piano in Market Square.

Clearly he hasn't learned to do anything well. I don't care what it is if you want to be great at it prepare to spend thousands upon thousands of hours working on it. Fortunately for me I don't have the distractions a lot of other people have; children, finance issues, video games, cable, etc. Not sure you know this about me but I can be a bit obsessive when i'm interested in something. Last time I was this obsessed with something my vertical was 52" and I was playing ball in europe, at 6ft tall no less.

And if you were actually any good you'd have made it past the Eastern Europe Weekend Community Basketball and Barbecue League.

What's really funny though is how obsessed you've been at trying to impress us here the past few years, and how utterly you've failed at that as well.
