I never got into the love/hate people had for her, but she was found dead in London today. While the news doesn't give a cause of death, with her drug and alcohol problems, I easily lead to think she OD and may have been suicide.

When you end up looking like this, there is only one question left to answer.

Did they destroy the brain to make sure she doesn't return?

Another member of the 27 club.

I'm guessing "No, no, no" was the wrong answer when they tried to make her go to rehab. RIP.

The biggest tragedy to me was how pretty she was before the drugs. She was smokin' just a few years ago and could have had a long, storied career as a diva....

Holy ****, she was only 27? She looked like she was in her late 40's to early 50's.

It's not her pre-addiction looks that are the greatest loss to the world but her voice. She quickly became a walking caricature, but the few songs of hers I heard were outstanding, and it was her voice that made them so.

Can't say I'd be able to recognize any song of hers. I may have heard one before but I don't really know.

She had a great voice. I was a rather big fan. However, it's not really a surprise to see a talented musician die young. As someone who used to abused opiates and various other drugs quite heavily intravenously, I don't really pity her. It's quite clear when you've come into dangerous territory, and if you continue after that then you essentially deserve what you get. Sad though, nonetheless.

I never listened to her music and never had any interest in her whatsoever. To me she was never anything more than an internet meme. Her death hasn't changed that.

Never listened to her, or anything, but I think stuff like this is just sad and tragic. Just goes to show that money and fame can't bring happiness. Wherever she may be now, I hope her spirit finds the peace there that she apparently couldn't find in life.

I probably wouldn't recognise any song of hers apart from Rehab, either. But I'd probably recognise the voice.

This is probably some sort of musical crime that just shows how tone deaf and musically untalented I am, but her voice reminds me a little of Ella Fitzgerald. Deep, smokey, textured. Rehab doesn't really showcase her voice the way some of her other songs do.

I think the real question here is why is Ari never on Skype.

Ella Fitzgerald is actually a very appropriate comparison. Amy's voice was artless and genuine, and the rough emotion that came through it was from the same mold as many of the soul greats of the 20th century. She sang through the pain.

Actually, the first time I heard her, I thought she was black. Surprised the heck outta me when I saw her picture.

You didn't get her new username? She said she gave it out to everyone who matters? You should have... ooooooh.

That joke would have worked better if TLW wasn't already my Skype go-to guy when I'm suicidal.

We've had some really strange conversations.

TLW has a unique approach to inculcating motivations to live. Smiley: inlove

Such a shame and waste of talent. Her voice was, and still is, I guess, unique. Her personal life didn't interest me in the slightest, but I enjoyed her music.

Can't say her death came as a surprise, though.

She must have been a slow child, at 27 emo rock-proteges are typically through the danger-zone.
