I'm curious about your statistics on this. On the one hand, I can think of several ways colonization could have helped countries, such as adding infrastructure and introducing new concepts like tourism. This would likely be true especially in the countries and territories of successful black island countries (The Bahamas, Cayman Islands, etc).
