So the first recall results were just announced. The Democrat incumbent Hansen retained his seat. One down, eight to go. The Republican primary in the 12th district was won by the tea party guy. It's an interesting district because the three assembly reps are Republican and the US Rep is Republican as well. It will be interesting to see what happens. Fail edit: the incumbent up for recall is a Democrat elected in 2008 when Obama carried a lot of the state.

August should be exciting as that's when the rest of the races drop (mostly because Republicans forced primaries in the other eight races by either running fake democrats or multiple candidates to give their people time to advertise and raise money).

3 Democrats recalled.
6 Republicans recalled.

Democrats need three seats for a majority in the senate. There's still talk of more recalls including Walker, which cannot be done until he's been in office for a year.

Remains to be seen. That is going to have quite a few legal challenges before the ink even dries. With our current Supreme Court a decision will likely be rushed the same day they take the case. That is, assuming it makes it there. The political climate here is pretty awful right now. I've encountered hostility when I talk to people on the phone and inform them I'm a public worker.

the democrats, who were recently defeated, are doing everything they can to subvert the election results

Like using the legal democratic process, those bastards.

And if the GOP can re-district to ***** the Dems they should. There's no doubt that's what the Dems do

Correct on both counts, really. Giving up the power of redistricting would be asinine regardless of how I'd personally like for it to go down. From the sound of it, the GOP is re-writing the rules as they go along because the existing rules wouldn't let them shove it through so it'll remain to be seen if it'll hold up in the inevitable court challenge.

Shoving things through and wide stances seems to be pretty standard operating procedures.

You know. Just saying.

I'm pretty sure the Wisconsin redistricting rules aren't part of the Constitution but nice job learning a catch-phrase from the AM Radio Man and parroting it randomly!

I'm pretty sure Wisc has a state constitution.

I'm pretty sure it also does not contain the rules in question.

You should try learning something before speaking. It'd save you a lot of embarrassment.

Plus if you don't have a problem saying the constitution is fluid why should you when rules are changed?

Who said I had a problem? I would expect both parties to do their damnedest to exert control over redistricting and use whatever tools are available to them. I said it'd remain to be seen if it would withstand the inevitable legal challenge.

Well, when you learn to read, I'm sure you'll just have a wealth of valid points to make. But maybe you should wait until then before speaking.
