As I recall, and I'm hardly an expert, Britain wasn't fully recovered form WWI rationing when WWII hit. Add to that recovery time (rationing into the mid 1950s), and you have about a half-century of being under food rationing. Point being that that can't help anyone's national culinary traditions.

This mostly. I can stand the deep-dish, it's just no longer my goto choice. We found a place that specializes in the Chicago-style deep-dish that will deliver to my area. I enjoy rotating one in every now and then.

True, that's why we got all those Indian and West Indian people over. Y'know, to spice things up a little! Smiley: grin

I basically flew to NY for the pizza and buffalo wild wings. The pizza definitely lived up to my expectation. Best pizza ever. The wings... ehh. When I reschedule my Chicago trip, I will compare the two. Can't wait...

You're surprised that Alma makes bad choices?

And we all know he really went for the bathhouses.

To be fair, I'm assuming you're more surprised there wasn't a BWW near him than that BWW is just that good.

I've only been once, but I've been looking for another ever since. Haven't lived near one since college, unfortunately (closest is about a 90 minute drive, and I have a strict 30-minute-or-gtfo policy on food).

Interestingly, it's a one-hour-or-gtfo policy for sex.

... and if you combined them? Potentially 8 hours. It's an exponential increase.

Now is that for if you are going to get both, or if you are going to get both at the same time?

Do you actually mean "Buffalo Wild Wings," the restaurant, or just Buffalo wings, the food? There's a difference. You don't put the "wild" in the name of the food.

Yeah, I'm confused. The restaurant Buffalo Wild Wings, contrary to Locke's misguided notion, sucks horrifically. I've been to many of them, and on many occasions (they always show the UFC fights, and they're oft the only nearby place doing so). They're all bad. The food is middling. The service is, on average, the worst service that I have experienced in a chain restaurant.

Alma said "Niagara Falls", which would mean he was in Buffalo, NY. If he was there, then there are two famous wing restaurants that would be infinitely better places to get wings than a Buffalo Wild Wings, namely the Anchor Bar and Duffs.

Incoming Alma defending his use of "wild wings" to mean "wings" in general.

I live in NYC. I don't have to travel to experience different cultures. They're all here already.

I don't really care if he made an error or thought that "Buffalo wild wings" was the catch-all term but throwing a hissy and saying "you all decide to stay at home at the same location eating the same food" and no one else wants to experience different cultures but him was pretty funny.

I only went once. The wings cost around $.40 each (here in Gainesville they're usually around twice or 2.5 times that amount), they had a variety of sauces, and I was with a group of friends so we had a blast. Typical service, tasty wings, low cost, lots of fun.

YMMV
