Seriously, that seems pretty cool.

Actually, I want to see the Mirror's Edge games; I believe the new one is using motion capture from some top names in the parkour/freerunning communities.

Are you sure? The whole project got cancelled a few years back. It literally just got re-upped...but no work has been done on it.

You're probably right. I did see some video of motion-capture work with some popular freerunners, and thought it was ME2. Come to think of it I think it was for more of a sandboxy, Tony Hawk Pro Skater-like game.

Not too much new around here. Still working on various house projects out here in ridgefield in my spare time. At other work I got a kind of sideways lateral sort of promotion that may eventuaslly result in more money, so now I do much more server stuff than before there. Here, they cut a bunch of peoples hours, which is really annoying. But at least we have a new forum interface and a Smiley: cake smiley now.

CNC Robot is almost done now, waiting on one more top plate piece still, then building the enclosure for it. Then I can make thingies.

Still single, etc.

I'm working on my MBA. That's about all I have time for with work, though. We have taken a few trips this year, some unplanned to attend funerals, which sucked, but most were planned.

In a moment, I have to start going through the Megastat tutorials for class on Tuesday...

Good luck, but I'm pretty sure it's incapable of learning.

Mia starts Grade 1 tomorrow, we are up to our eyeballs in swim team and hockey practices, I am "homeschooling" Jack for preschool and Burton is just into everything. Besides all that I am busy with all my boring stuff. And I'm trying for a record number of consecutive drinking evenings. Go me!

Jonwin and I are still together and the relationship has only improved with age. I been making jewelry at a record pace and looking at starting my own business by this fall.

My youngest grand child will be starting first grade at the end of summer, while her brother will be in 3th grade. Erin's 6th birthday is tomorrow and she is quite creative, having help me design a lovely necklace for herself. It was a bit grown up for a girl her age, but I suggested she give it to her other grandmother. Not the one who actually is her grandfather and my ex. That person has been feeding the two of them tall tales about me that if isn't slander, comes very close to it. Thankfully my oldest has made it clear to my grand kids that they aren't to believe anything my ex says about me.

Oldest will turn 30 this month and that makes me feel older then my 50th birthday did.

Working on day 800 of my 90 day contract. That experience is almost perfectly represented here if you replace Queuing with Record Linkage:

Record linkage is fun, are you working with the actual algorithms etc, or the integration pieces?

Yes. I'm too lazy to go into much detail (but hey, I retain publishing rights, so there's always Gscholar in 5 years), but (very) basically, modified Fellegi-Sunter optimized for the particular data profile in question, which is pretty much completely lacking in any sort of "traditional" probabilistic key matching profile. I really do have a stack of signed NDAs about it, so I'm not going to go into it much more than that.

Most days, I'm amazed at how accurate it is. Most. Other days I'm amazed at how sophisticated of a pattern recognition engine the human brain is compared to 10 million in hardware.

Hmm, I know someone working on a similar project in the same general area. Wonder if it's a co-worker or competitor.

I know co-educational refers to guys and girls, but the term "co-ed" is usually reserved as referring to just the girls.
