Um... Yeah. Whatever makes you sleep better at night Joph.

I can't "defend" her unless someone's attacking, right? Think about it.

Really? Twiz, quasi-conservative or whatever he is, posts an editorial and asks if we can stop caring now. I pointed out the simple fact that the only reason this is news now is because it took this long for compliance to the request. Then you started in about how terrible it is that anyone asked for them in the first place and "Ooooohhh.... my poor Princess Sarah, I'll save you! Yip! Yip!"

Yeah. But keep pretending that you're not obsessed with protecting her from every tiny sling and arrow (real or imaginary)! Great job, defending her against a factual statement about how long the request took! Yip! Yip! Yip! Grrrr!

Just about as long as it took Obama to release his long-form birth certificate.

I don't lend any credence to the birther idiocy, but both situations are equally meaningless and completely non-newsworthy, yet all of the major news networks flew entire teams of people to Alaska to review the Palin e-mails.

So I repeat: can we please, as a nation, stop giving a fuck yet?

Well it's a good thing you posted this thread, otherwise we couldn't have gotten all of this not caring done.

Ignoring the fact that Obama's birth certificate was a legally shielded document under Hawaii law and not one under "Freedom of information" style laws like the governor's emails, the point still remains that yeah, if Obama's certificate had been out three years ago we wouldn't be talking about it now just like if Team Palin had complied with the request when they were supposed to, it wouldn't be news in June 2011 that they fulfilled something they were supposed to do in September 2008.

What was the reason for that again? Does anyone remember?

Complete unknown neophyte governor being put on the ticket as first benchwarmer in regards to leader of the free world.

As opposed to the largely unknown starting line-up proposed by the other side.

In fairness though, his first benchwarmer said he was an articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking African-American, so who were we to disagree?

So we normally examine every email sent by a politician during their previous job when they are selected to as VP on a presidential ticket? Strange, but I don't recall that being standard procedure.

Why did we need to check all her email while she was governor again?
Private citizens and private media outlets wanted them. It is their right.

FOI requests come in constantly, requesting reams of papers worth of documentation. Yesterday at work a print job of mine got stuck behind one of the directors printing out the first section of a FOIA case. I waited a loooong time.

I'll give you Palin's issues draw more media attention than more mundane type stuff - but I think she's kind of responsible for that. Don't you?

Relatively few. They scanned the documents and then used volunteer pools to do the reading from home.
