Iraq started the war.

Explain.

The one Obama is ending without securing a region and the one Obama has more than doubled forces in since he took office.
You're right, cleaning up after such a huge ineffective clusterfuck does suck.
Yeah, that's why the death toll in Afghanistan has more than doubled since the Prez took office, because it was so poorly managed before (Under GW for 8 years: 630 dead; Under BO for <2.5 years: 973 dead). Woo hoo! On pace for a 400% increase in casualties for like periods.
Woo hoo, and the death rate in Iraq shrunk considerably (hit 4,000 March 2008, 4,436 January 2011), and a 100% death rate for Bin Laden.

Makes sense. Getting serious in a region that was neglected for six years does sound as though it would result in higher casualties.

As long as you can rationalize it so it doesn't reflect poorly on Obama I suppose you're going to be happy with it.

Varus, even if you were right, there was still absolutely no legal basis for a "continuation".

I'm more appreciative of the administration that sent me in country in a vehicle that barely vibrated rolling directly over an IED than I am in the one that sent me in a vehicle that flipped over twice, broke both of my legs and killed my gunner when it drove next to an IED.

But hey, go ahead and give your personal accounts on why one administration is better during these stupid conflicts.

During the Bush administration, the Suzuki Sidekick was the standard troop transport vehicle.

Haven't your troop numbers in Afghan dramatically jumped since Obama took over?

Oh right. So its fair for me to say then that since Canada's only lost 150+ soldiers in the almost 10 years we've been there that we have better soldiers and leaders, since we're not putting any value in troop counts here.

You guys have an inferior military.

2008 US Troops in Afghanistan: 30,100
2008 US Troop Deaths in Afghanistan: 155

2010 US Troops in Afghanistan: 63,500
2010 US Troop Deaths in Afghanistan: 499

Troop Increase: ~ 110%
Death Toll Increase: ~ 222%

On the up side, this year we're only on pace for ~400 dead in Afghanistan, so that gotta be good.
