Just add U.S. names & organizations and change the dates to 2013. Budget considerations will become ever so much more important when deciding who to treat and when.

Cutting funding for hospitals makes them run slower?

Man, it's a good thing insurance companies cover everybody and would never decide to deny coverage to someone in need.

No one actually thinks the NHS is all that great, but it's still better than most systems.

And I'll just go ahead and blame the Tories for this.

Meanwhile the Journal of the American Medical Association just reported that urban/suburban areas in the United States have lost 27% of their emergency rooms in last 20 years due to rising costs.

Therefore it must be true that no one does wait and our system is better.

84% of Americans rate the health care they receive at "C" or better in a recent Robert Wood Johnson poll. 65% at "A" or "B". Looks like it's working pretty well to me.

I'm sure you don't. Policy is not written based on your personal experiences though.

So US healthcare is working so great that US nationals go abroad to get treated? Right.

I go abroad to get treated, too, but that's mostly because my dentist abroad is the best dentist ever and charges me ridiculously low rates!

That's a great point. Policy is written to pander to emotional responses. Guess who has the biggest effected emotional response on this question.

No, it's working so well that kings come here to get treated.

You do know that in the UK, with money, you can still get private health care without waiting lists if it bothers you, right?

It's just that the ones who cannot afford it for whatever reason have the option of getting treatment, and as far as anecdotal experience goes, I had free emergency surgery with a 30 minute wait the first time I came to the country, had a 2 hour wait in the A&E on a Friday night when I needed it, and for everything else there's walk-in clinics.

The only thing I opt out of is dentistry because there are waiting lists for that and because I can get it cheaply elsewhere.

The reason no one in the states waits is because most sane people here will have to be on the verge of death before they'll go to an ER. I know that's the only way I'll go.

Probably because kings have enough money to afford treatment.

Yeah, but all polls are Democratically biased and therefor wrong.

That's funny, that kings abroad come here for the same level of treatment that people who make $50,000 a year roll around naked in. Says something about the state of the rest of the world's medicine, if you ask me.

Come back to the U.S. then. U.K. hospitals are terrible. Imagine, waiting in chairs for 6 months!

I figured since they were kings, they'd get some sort of hospital throne to sit in.
