lol...softened...right. Fact is Obama did a complete 180. Of course he knew he was lying during the election when he sold you lefties the lie.

This is not only old news, it's old news that you originally brought up. Try visiting a new well.

#3gbaji, Posted: Apr 04 2011 at 3:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It's a progression though. The old news was dropping the somewhat ludicrous insistence that we must try these folks in civilian courts. The new news is actually going forward with a military tribunal for a major 9/11 figure. I can see why you'd want to brush this under the rug with the old "we've already talked about this" standby though.

Nice try? But maybe next time also try literacy in addition to your ill planned gotchas.

Isn't it amazing how actually doing something is considered separate (and often more important) than merely saying you're going to do something?

A month versus eight years?

I know you were told to cry about this but that barely qualifies as phoning it in.

The title of this thread should read :

'Obama changes his mind about 9/11 trials. And Israeli settlement expansion. And expanded miltary actions. And marijuana laws. And Mubarak. And Libya. Etc.'

I thought the old news was the somewhat ludicrous insistence on trying them in the middle of Times Square on Thursday night during ratings sweeps week. They probably just don't want to lose out to Grey's Anatomy.

I would hope it's a bit more difficult to land a man on the moon than to try one guy in a military tribunal. But maybe you think differently?

I love how you just need everyone to ignore this because it's "old news". It's amazingly predictable actually!

Well, you've already admitted your love of remaining ignorant so maybe it was just old news to everyone except you?

Could also call it "Obama realizes that the world is harder than he thought".

Oh, I think he's pretty contented that everything is going forward according to plan.

And the Billion dollars or so (not to mention the lack of credible opposition) he's going to have for his re-election campaign will ensure that the 'plan' will continue on uninterrupted.

So... did any of you whiners have something new to add on the topic as long as you're huffing about no one wanting to talk about the news? Something that hasn't been said before? Anyone...?

This doesn't even matter, to be perfectly honest. The more I see of Obama's presidency, the more I realize the Democrats and Republicans are just two sides of the same coin. I won't have similar wool pulled over my eyes in the future.

He'll most likely get reelected, so I'll reserve judgment until his next term. But so far, he's done nothing I wanted him to do. His version of "health care reform" should have been called "health insurance sleight-of-hand." I wanted the full socialist on that one. He vowed to end Iraq and Afghanistan, and you see how far that's gotten. Oh wait! He also sent our military into yet another country we had no business in! And he's been incredibly flimsy on Gitmo. There are probably more disappointments to list, but I want to go eat now.

The "news" is the US attorney general actually handing these specific cases which his party had originally insisted should be held in civilian court in NY to the military tribunal process at Gitmo. As was stated in the linked article, this is another step in the process and yet another nail in the coffin of the "but they should be tried in civilian courts" side of the argument.

I'll note with some amusement that in the thread from a month ago that you're using to dismiss this story as "old news", you *also* dismissed that story (part of it anyway) as not really being news either. It wouldn't surprise me if we went back to when Congress made that decision if we'd find you *again* saying that it's not a big surprise or in some other way downplaying the whole thing. Don't get me wrong, I understand why you'd want to downplay the significance of each and every step along the way, I just find amusement in pointing it out anyway.

Was never going to pass the Senate. Ever. Even with sixty votes, you'd have moderate Democrats who would have balked at a single-payer system.
Quote:
He vowed to end Iraq and Afghanistan, and you see how far that's gotten.

He said he'd put more troops into Afghanistan but he also set a withdraw date. Iraq currently has 47,000 troops in it compared to 142,000 when he took office and it's getting smaller each month.
Quote:

I disagree with you there but that's a matter of opinion. He did in fact order the action in Libya.
Quote:
And he's been incredibly flimsy on Gitmo.

He ordered the closing and attempted to buy a prison to keep the people currently in Gitmo. He was blocked by Congress from purchasing the prison or from using any money in the budget to transfer prisoners (which is why we're having a tribunal for this guy). I'm not sure what you think he can do about it.

Except that there was a bipartisan effort to stop the prisoner transfer. Were you just not aware of this?

No, I said the part about Gitmo not closing wasn't news. I then typed a paragraph about the tribunal system (which was news). Which I followed up with another couple paragraphs about the tribunal system. A little literacy would serve you well.

And you still haven't had anything to say on the topic except for trying to make this about whether or not I want to talk about it. Are you desperately awaiting my approval before you voice an opinion or something? You have my permission, Gbaji. Go ahead and talk.

Apparently 'invasion' is not the same as 'military action' (Thanks Gbaji) but a hell of a lot of hardware with 'Made in USA' has been falling from the skies and dismembering Pakistanis, young and old, in Pakistan since Obama became Prez.
