Then why were they blurred?

Because Fox chose to blur them because they decided those signs were too over the top. I don't think there's even a question of that. I was saying that when Fix News says they're "not allowed", that's really just a call they made internally. It has nothing to do with the FCC.

Now who's guessing? You weren't even the one who saw it Joph. You just ran with it and have invented your own crazyland explanation for something you didn't see, and for which you have only the word of one person.

I saw Fox News footage of signs that said "God Hates ****". So Bijou's originally statement is just plain false. I don't know what signs they blurred out, but it wasn't the ones with that message. But you seem more than willing to run off on a tangent based on nothing but a vague assertion that Fox New's coverage was somehow unusual.

I've seen CNN and MSNBC both also blur signs in past news stories Joph. And guess what? I also don't know what those signs said, that caused them to blur them. But to suggest that Fox is somehow unusually prudish (which I'm assuming was the point of the whole thing) is just plain wrong.

Sheesh. Talk about a mountain out of a non-existent molehill.

Holy fuck. You actually took that seriously. I'm speechless.

I took your Pavlovian need to bash Fox, and attack Sarah Palin seriously yes. Why'd you make that joke Joph?

"Crazyland"? "They decided those signs were too over the top" is "crazyland"? I never said their coverage was unusual, I said that the FCC wouldn't have been a factor in them deciding to blur those signs. I really don't care why they blurred the signs; I was responding more to the mistaken impression that the FCC controls cable content. Working maybe just a liiiiiiitle too hard to defend Fox there, buddy? :D

The lulz. And it wasn't even that funny of a joke but your freakout over it is pretty hilarious so I'm glad I went with it.

I don't think stooping to their level is dignified.

The classy thing to do is to celebrate at home. I know that when Ole Freddy dies I'm going to have an extra round of buttsex in his honor.

Because taking a shot in the mouth on his grave site is somehow beneath you?

This is kind of an interesting little article about the Westboro Baptist Cult Church. Made-for-tv movie material.

Quote:
...the church spokeswoman, says the members want God to punish Americans for tolerating homosexuality. They picket funerals to make people angry, she says: They want people to reject God and be condemned to hell.

We'll have to set up a rota for all the people who want a turn at dancing/fellating/making the wild monkey sex on his grave.

The only Pavlovian thing going on in this thread is your defence against an attack that was never actually made.

So Bijou's post wasn't intended to perpetuate the assumption that Fox News is unusual in terms of what they blur out on screen? And his point about them showing the other religious focused signs wasn't intended to suggest some kind of religious cover going on? He even said "Damage mitigation for their friends?", so it's a bit hard to ignore this aspect of his post.

And Joph's joke response that Sarah Palin was the one who didn't allow them to show those signs wasn't intended to negatively reflect on Palin and/or Fox either? Lol!

C'mon now. You, I, and everyone reading this know that's *exactly* why they made those posts. You want to bash on Fox News, Conservatives, Palin, and whatever else, that's fine. But I'm always a bit confounded when people do this and then try to insist that they aren't. "Oh no! When I said that Fox News is covering for their friends the religious crazies from WBC, and when another poster said that Sarah Palin was behind it all, we didn't mean that as any sort of attack on Fox News or Palin at all. Why would you think that?".

Really? You can't be serious.

Wow, it's fun to watch you wrap yourself up in a giant tizzy over one throw-away joke.

I'm guessing this sort of hysteria is the response Varus or Totem is hoping for when they name drop Gore and everyone goes "Meh".

Except that you've repeated that "one throw-away joke" dozens of times, at least. Hence my comment about the Pavlovian nature of your pattern of behavior. You read certain words or concepts and you can't help but respond with one of a handful of "jokes". It's a classic example of triggered behavioral response. Of course, you can't see it because you're the one with the trigger.

Who name drops Gore? When? I don't think you can go a week without posting something "joking" about Palin or Fox News or Bush.

One of us throws out a Fox News or Palin joke now and again for the laughs. One of us goes into a royal hissy each time and types 30x more text moaning and ******** about it than the other person ever spent making the joke.

I'm pretty happy with which person I am :D
