Is there anything Floridians won't put up their nose?

I've tried some dumb things to get high, but come on, people.

I just found out something hilarious (at least to me); NPR is blocked at my work for "Adult Materials".

People are silly. If this hasn't worked as an argument for marijuana, it's not going to work on crazy PCP/meth-like drugs that make you beyond insane. Also, I doubt any underage kids are carded for bath salts.

I thought K2 was illegal in FL but I bought some at a local smoke shop last week. Huzzah for "herbal blend potpourri!" Never heard of the bath salt thing - not sure if I'd try that.

By the way, the K2 worked just fine. I'm sure I'm giving myself some kind of deadly disease by using it, though Smiley: nod

Wasn't K2 and the other brands just banned in the U.S. by the DEA?

Edit: Wrong agency.

Not that I've heard. Apparently K2 is up for discussion in March in FL. I have almost no doubt it'll be banned. Enjoy the legal high and death-causing chemicals while possible!

Seems like Florida isn't the only one having problems. K2-K7(?!?!?) and bath salts bans are being pushed for.

Bath Works is going to need to find a new line of product.

No, you're right. I started a topic on it when it happened in November. The DEA issued an emergency nation-wide ban on all known synthetic cannibinoids, including K-2, Spice, etc.

A relative of my girlfriend's had apparently become addicted to it, thinking it was as harmless as marijuana. He ended up going to his parents about it for help (rehab basically). This happened like a day before the ban.

My advice: if you're going to insist on using, stick to the tried and true, marijuana and alcohol. Even if a substance is legal, it's still illegal to abuse it (e.g. paint), and the DEA will always act in that manner upon discovering a new abuse substance.

A question about k2. Would I put it in my little potpourri crock to steam, stuff it in a pipe or just let it set about in a pretty dish?

Incorrect. I refer you to Executive Order 12291, which is used as a justification for why the DEA has not enacted the ban of the 5 synthetic cannaboids used in K2. If you don't believe me, you are welcome to explore the latest Controlled Substance Act from the government's website. Luckily it's not a PDF, which makes it easy to look up:

"synthetic": 1 hit, for steroids.
"JWH-018": no hits, it's the chemical that mimics marijuana
"Spice" and "K2": no hits, those are the most popular brands
"Marijuana": Still banned Smiley: bah

As said, a state ban is likely come March in Florida, but until then you need to check with your state to see if K2 or Spice are illegal.

Smiley: schooled

Hm, interesting. I don't use, well, anything, and naturally "the DEA didn't get around to that afterall" wasn't really newsworthy, so I didn't realize they hadn't followed through with that announcement. I wonder what could have prevented/delayed that.

I guess if nothing else, states are catching on to it and banning it on their own.

If I thought for a minute that this rumor about bath salts getting you high were, say, a government conspiracy to weed out the stupid, I'd be elated about it.

As it is, it's just kinda sad. What ever happened to smoking banana peels and catnip?

That's the sort of sound logic that results in trusting your retirement to Enron stock.

Well, when those Balt salts are made of a more volatile form of cocaine...

But I'm still not sure why people are buying them dressed up in bath salts at truck stops at an atrocious markup rather than from accredited chemical research facilities that have been providing highs both legal and exotic for years.

Also, firesale prices. At $0.50-$1 per line you can't afford not to be doing their cocaine.

*Disclaimer: I do not participate in nor endorse substance abuse, legal or illegal.

When I was in 5th grade, there was this one guy that was the most popular in the school that whatever he did, everyone pretty much copied. He wore his clothes backwards, two different shoes, whacky hair styles, etc. We all followed him like mindless sheep.

But then he started snorting Kool-Aid mix. And lots of people copied him. I tried one little granule and I thought my nose was going to explode from the sneezing that started. That was it for me,, but this fad lasted for a few weeks until the school caught on, some huge investigation, and many notes were sent home and meetings were to be had. And I remember the visit from the police officer for a presentation on peer pressure afterwards.

I have to say that is one reason why I steered clear of drinking and drugs. The cop presentation scared me.

K2 is "fake" pot, yes?

Why would you use that instead of real pot?

That's what I was wondering, but then I realized that the US is even more backwards than a lot of other countries with their drug laws.
