Utah Army base locked to solve 'serious concern'

(AP) – 1 hour ago

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah military base that carries out tests to protect troops against biological attacks was locked down Wednesday to resolve a "serious concern," officials said.

Base commander Col. William E. King said no one was in danger and the gates will reopen as quickly as it's feasible.

His statement did not provide any details of the problem.

Base spokeswoman Bonnie Robinson told the The Associated Press early Thursday that officials hope to have the problem resolved shortly.

"We are working as quickly and as thoroughly as possible to resolve a serious concern within the Test Area," King said.

"Measures like these (lock down of our gates) are not taken lightly. No one is in immediate danger but these steps are required," he said.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that a lockdown began at 5:24 p.m. MST Wednesday, with no one allowed in or out of the base. There were about 1,200 to 1,400 people at Dugway at the time.

Military weapons are tested at Dugway, located about 85 miles southwest of Salt Lake City. Its primary mission is defending troops against biological and chemical attacks.

If this is the beginning of the Zombie Apocalypse, I'm just glad Utah's one of the first places to go. Hopefully, it moves north/south and clears out more bible thumpers first.

Gucci makes a fabulous jewel encrusted chainsaw, but then you'll have to find shoes to match.

Chain saw. You could always take the chain off and use it as a belt accessory.

Only if it's industrial-grade diamond studded.

Two sick people, one body found in truck on Florida highway

(CNN) -- Authorities trying to help a sick man and a child in a truck on a Florida highway also found a body in the vehicle Monday.

The incident started in the morning when a pest control truck pulled to the side of the road on I-95 in the West Palm Beach area.

Firefighters came to the scene and found a man and a boy suffering from some type of illness, said Chase Scott, a spokesman for West Palm Beach police.

Both were rushed to hospitals and were in serious condition, Scott said. Some of the firefighters on scene also became sick from fumes coming from the vehicle and had to be hospitalized.

Hazardous material teams were called in and while going through the truck authorities found a body inside a bag, Scott said.

The man and the boy had not been charged, but authorities had searched the man's home in southwest Dade County, Scott said.

Scott did not provide much information on the body that was found in the truck.

The incident snarled traffic on heavily traveled I-95 for hours, CNN affiliate WPBF reported.

The substance that sickened people was a jug of an acid-based solution, the affiliate reported.

Nothing to do with zombies, more like a guy trying to spend quality time with his kid by disposing of evidence together.
