A fella called Barry Pepper and he does a swell job. I honestly can't complain about any of the casting. It was really well done.

Barry Pepper is the fellow who played the American sniper in Saving Private Ryan and Roger Maris in *61, among other things. He's a pretty steady actor.
I'd like to go see True Grit since I am a huge fan of, in order, Matt Damon, the Coen Bros., and Jeff Bridges.

Very good. I saw the previews for this when I saw The Social Network, and I was pumped. It really looked good. Glad to hear it didn't disappoint.
I'd heard True Grit was a great movie as long as you didn't try to compare it to the original, nor to compare Bridges to John Wayne.
I want to see the other Jeff Bridges movie - TRON: Legacy. I thought the original fun, and this one looks even more fantastically futuristic....and it's in 3-D!
Edit - I finally got around to watching Blind Side this last weekend. Omgosh, I blubbered through nearly the whole thing. We also watched Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. There was some fun in watching it - Grover the Satyr was a good character. Mostly it was pretty obvious and cliche'.

No worries. It's certainly a nice story. I was just shocked at all the Oscar buzz that it was receiving.
I've seen both the original and the remake of True Grit (remake first admittedly) and I have to say I liked Bridges' rendition of Rooster Cogburn better.
Saw Tron Legacy and it was pretty good. Not oscar worthy but definitely enjoyable.

Yha that's why I put (remake first admittedly) in there.
The Wayne version just seemed more uppity to me. I liked the layed back old codger Bridges played better. The courtroom scene was excellent imo for displaying this. "I usually go backwards when I'm backing up".
True Grit was awesome. And yes, I had seen the original. Gotta say I liked Bridges' performance better, and also the little gal. The original Mattie got on my nerves, I couldn't stand her for some reason.
Some people are like slinkies, they aren't really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
Saw True Grit today, and it was awesome. The girl who plays Maddie was excellent.
