I make my own cheese. It takes fUcking ages. Worth every minute.

Same with pot.

I'm moving onto cider next year when the trees are a bit bigger.

Do you have any good links or anything? I'd love to make my own cheese. Right now I cure bacon and prosciutto, but I'd love to make cheese.

I know a lot of people that make beer, and wine, although I currently don't, but I'll probably start soon.

your wife works with idiots. From what I've heard they haven't brought her far enough out of sedation to make any judgments on what is and isn't impaired.

Either that or she talks too much at work and they're trying to arrange that she loses her ability to speak permanently.

You're such a badass, man. **** gives me chills.

...You know, before you started posting again there were these guys who were really up in your cheerios - I mean those clowns turned it into a fucking community pool. They were pretty much on your **** whenever it came up.

So you know when you came back and it turned out you were this dull, witless little cow fucker I was pretty dissapointed. Devastated, even.

But now I can see that you're actually a genius. A smart, funny, worthwhile poster whose contributions I value more than life itself.

10/10, exellent performance.

I had heard that the trajectory had kept clear of the speech centers, but may have damaged the locomotor.

Lots of folks around me make cider. I'm usually well supplied in the fall. No one pasturizes it though, so it's a short-lived treat. I've made hard cider - It was just ok. I'll not likely bother again.

I want to try and grow my own mushroom (the mundane kind), and would love to get a goat - goat cheese is easier to make than your classic cheeses. The goat thing probably won't happen though.

Did anyone else start hearing Gloria Gaynor singing in their head?

First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side
But I spent so many nights
thinking how you did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on
and so you're back
from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed my stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
you'd be back to bother me

I suppose there's always the added amusement that when the context is added back in, it completely disproves his point 90% of the time.

Please. Varus doesn't have context, he's just a grab-bag of Republican talking point Mad-Libs.

This could be a thread about the cost of movie theater popcorn and he'd have responded the same way.

Again abcnews first sentence.
They just quoted what the sheriff said.

Just face it liberals have to use incidents like this to push their agenda through. They can't argue the pro's and con's of a subject because they know they have nothing to stand on but the fear of the populace. And this is what we're seeing.
You missed this take though:

This shooting is the result of a broken health care system that let this mentally ill young man slip through the system without proper treatment.

NPR-The New Republic wrote:
It should go without saying that most mentally ill people are not violent — and that those who are violent might not be if they received appropriate treatment. But, too often, they don't get it. And that's when tragedies occur.

Was this such an instance? Was the Arizona gunman among those the mental health system left out? If so, might a stable, coordinated care environment have offered effective treatment — the kind that might have changed his behavior and, in so doing, spared the victims of yesterday's violence? If so, were there missed opportunities — and who or what missed them?

Mushrooms are easy. I sometimes get a bucket full of mushroom seeded (spored?) compost delivered. It sits in the shed in the dark and grows mushrooms for a couple of weeks, and when its finished I return the bucket to the supplier. Its ok, but I'm undecided if its worth it.

As far as cheese goes, someone asked if I had any good links....This woman is NZ's cheese guru, and her book is very good, as are her courses (no good unless you are in NZ I know), but the internet is full of cheese making info.

Elinda. Check out the dwarf Nigerian goats. They are really small and friendly, considerably smarter than varus, and produce inordinate amounts of milk for a such a small animal. Unfortunately we dont get them in NZ because of our biodiversity laws, but they are pretty popular in the States I believe. I'd have a couple for sure if I could.

Er? This thread? Or was it a complete non sequitur when Joph when off on Sarah Palin and her whole crosshairs/bullseye/whatever map and comment about reloading? I mean I suppose he could have just randomly decided to make a big deal about that right then, but that seems beyond coincidence. Don't you agree?

Pretty much. It was tangentially related to the topic at hand (it was the event that got her aide to start making up stories to cover Palin's ***), amused me and yet wasn't really worth a thread of its own. Since you manged to read that enough to whine about it, I'm curious how it is you missed the multiple times I said "This guy was just a nutcase".
