I would have to disagree with the American cars are crap part these days. Most if not all American produced cars are right on par with the imports. Safety and reliability even price they are just as good. In most cases the American cars are recieving better reviews all around than their forign counterparts.

This can't possibly apply to anything put out by Chrysler. Definitely not the 300 anyway. Piece of ****.

For the most part American cars still do not have a split differential, until this in not the case please do not imply that American cars are competitive. it's like you want bad handling cars.

If british top gear brought us more than 5 episodes a season we wouldnt have to make our own sh*tty one.

I've watched the american one everynight since it aired. It's awful compared to the british one, but still leagues better than most everything else on TV, and I will keep watching it till they pull the plug.

Having only watched part of one episode of the British version, I can't make a fair comparison, but I will say that I've watched all of the American episodes so far and it's enjoyable enough.

As a person whos watched damn near every british top gear i'd like to point out their show didnt get great until the 10th season or so, imo. Their old episodes are just as awkward as what we are seeing here.

I wouldnt mind a personnel change. Tanner Foust belongs, hes a pro.

You're kidding, right? What does "for the most part" mean? Yes. Most cars in the US don't have independent suspension or split differentials and whatnot. But that's because the average US car consumer doesn't care about those things, not because there aren't plenty of US made cars that do. Compare apples to apples.

I was trying to discourage the annoying practice of posting nothing but a link to a youtube video. Seriously hate that!

That's the best it gets from him. Once he uses his words, it's all downhill from there.

Doesn't care or doesn't know? Because I bet if they knew, they'd care.

No. Don't care. We're talking about completely different markets. The bulk of US car consumers are buying a car to pile themselves and their stuff in and drive to and from work and occasionally go on a vacation or visit relatives. They drive on large flat almost ridiculously straight roads which the US has spent quite a bit of money building. They have no need nor care for a car that can corner smartly on a narrow mountain road because 99% of them will never drive on one, and would never drive fast on one if they did.

Comparing a car built for the "average" driver in the US to one built for an enthusiast in the UK (for example) is an incredibly pointless thing to do. The markets are different, the break points for different types of cars are different, and let's face it, the road requirements are radically different as well.

I disagree. However, it's not a major factor for most. It's more of a bonus.

A bonus that they are overwhelmingly not willing to pay extra for. That's why the most popular cars (non truck/suv) in the US are Civics and Corollas, and not Corvettes and Cadillacs. In the US you find sport suspensions on pretty much two types of cars: Sports coupes and top line sedans. Neither of those fit into the typical US buyers demographic. They are either not large enough for utility, or are too expensive for most people.

I need a car that can corner smartly because that's really important when commuting around the Prairie State. You never know when the road will wildly careen around a corn stalk.
