I'm dying here at the office with how quiet it is in the building. Been listening to Psych on the USA Network while doing this contract. But I'm all Smiley: banghead here.

I wanted to come to work today. I have had 4 days off with my family, both sides and extended, and this place seems f'ucking rational by comparison.

I needed to come into work. I had to get away from the condition of my house and I'm tired of just hanging around. I needed a change of scenery.

We're technically shut down for this week but I'm in today and tomorrow to finish up a few things. I've got a nice 5 day weekend after Tuesday though and that's a nice carrot.

I was snowed in. Swapping today with my scheduled day off Wednesday. Last week at this job anyways so it doesn't matter too much.

I'm supposed to be in the office today, but I spent all yesterday throwing up so I am taking the day off. I have been slowly introducing food to my body to see if I can keep it. I'm pretty sure it was food poisoning, but this morning I felt like I had been hit by a truck.

I had unfortunately gotten accustomed to a leisurely schedule of sleeping in late this past week, so I had to go to work today on roughly 3 hours of sleep. Luckily, the finance department is a ghost town this time of year. Unfortunately, that means I had to cover a fire drill for somebody else who has this entire week off, and didn't get anything on my own plate done.

Smiley: mad

I was supposed to get Dec 25th thru Jan 3rd off. But they decided that while the factory is shut down for the week, they are going to move a few large pieces of equipment around. So I get to come in for a few days and work on tearing them apart and moving them. Luckily I'm far enough up the food chain that I get to have others do the majority of the dirty work and just instruct them on what needs to be done, but I still have to help enough that it makes me annoyed. I'm a salaried employee, so whether or not I actually worked this week I still got paid for it. So actually working, no matter how little work it actually is, makes me lose money.

Yup, business as usual (but for getting up an extra two hours early to shovel my truck out).

Mr. Tare is back to work today for a couple days, then off for new year. Everyday is virtually the same in my world.

We were given last Thursday off without pay. Friday was an official holiday. Yesterday we were shut down by the winter storm.

At the moment I'm pretty comfortable being back at my desk. It's gotten pretty cold out, but my cubby is warm. I have lots of cookies and coffee and much busy work to get done after 5 days away. I predict this contented feeling will pass before lunch and it will be back to 'work sucks' as usual.

There's a storm coming into San Diego again and the weather reports are telling us to expect temperatures 10-20 degrees lower than normal, which means we could get into the 30s and 40s. I looked out the window and it's gotta be cold. The surfers are using their winter wet suits for a change, but most are paddle boarding.

I'm trying to get myself busy. Year end is always a crunch for transactional and business attorneys because things must be done by year end. But I just can't get myself to concentrate on these contract reviews.

I got thur/fri off this week and last, but the experiments I'm running have to be checked every 3rd day, so I've been in a lot >_<;

I just started work last month, so I was still uncertain about our snow day attendance policies. Went back in on tuesday; turns out we don't actually have one. Two-thirds of our office was still out, and half of them didn't even call-in. Its nice and casual.

I really shouldn't be in (I've got a nice big sinus infection) but I'm working up till the new year. I just don't feel right taking sick days unless its absolutely necessary, especially considering how new I am.

I've been out of work since before Thanksgiving thanks to medical problems (and I probably won't be back for a few weeks) and I'm dying to get back to work.

So, count your blessings people!
