Senate Democrats have filed a $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill that would fund the government through fiscal year 2011, according to Senate GOP sources.

Just more of the typical "we're democrats and don't care who we have to steal from" nonsense.

Sh*t like this is why the economy will never get better as long as Democrats have any power in congress and the presidency. So sit back and hold on for the ride the economy is going to get much worse as long as Obama and the Dems in congress have anything to say about it.

I didn't read the article, but I'm guessing this now gets debated, right? It's not like it's been passed. Still plenty of time to work out a bill - in fact, this is the EXACT issue the Republican party said they would work on, as they vowed shoot down anything else.

Not sure what the problem is?

Edit: Read it, looks like some Republicans support it too. So I guess your title should change to "Senate says F U to voters"?
Quote:
Despite strong opposition from Thune and Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), several Senate Republicans are considering voting for the bill.

“That’s my intention,” said retiring Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah) when asked if he would support the package.

Bennett said earmarks in the bill might give some of his GOP colleagues reason to hesitate but wouldn’t affect his vote.

“It will be tough for some, but not for me,” he said.

GOP Sens. Kit Bond (Mo.), George Voinovich (Ohio) and Susan Collins (Maine) also told The Hill on Tuesday they would consider voting for the omnibus but want to review it before making a final decision.

“I hope to be able to vote for one,” Bond said of the omnibus. “We’ve got to look what’s in it.

“I’m anxious to see it,” he added.

The District would get $11 million less from the federal government in 2011 than it did in 2010, if a newly released Senate version of an omnibus appropriations bill becomes law.

The House has already passed a continuing resolution that would maintain funding for D.C. and most other federal budget items at their current level for another year. But the Senate Appropriations Committee hopes to pass an omnibus bill instead that would combine 12 different new spending bills together, adding funding for some programs and cutting others. The Senate panel released a draft of the omnibus Tuesday, and committee leaders are working to get the 60 votes that would be necessary to overcome a Republican filibuster of the measure.

According to a summary of the omnibus financial services and general government appropriations bill, which carries funding for D.C., the District would get $741.3 million in federal payments for fiscal 2011, a decrease of 1.4 percent from the 2010 level of $752.1 million, but an increase of 1.6 percent over the amount President Obama requested in his budget.

Ummm... gee, I sure am mad and stuff.

I submit that he always possessed the absolute minimum level of intelligence to find and use an internet forum; however, I suppose it is theoretically possible that this process has been automated in some Pavlovian way that allows him to continue posting despite decreasing cognitive faculty.

I'll admit that I've just spent the last like 5 hours debugging some of the ugliest perl code ever, so maybe I missed something, but what does funding for DC have to do with the general issue of a "big Omnibus bill". Was Varus specifically complaining about the DC portions?

Varus gave no reason to throw a fit about it except that it's a "trillion" with absolutely no reference to the combined totals of previous federal funding bills (which were separate). Honestly, I doubt he knows what he was crying about at all.

What's it made out of? Does he even know? Of course not. He only knows that $1.1 trillion sounds scary large.

It's a federal funding omnibus which is mainly (around 75%) funding for DC and which represents a smaller number in DC funding than last year. Is he crying about the remaining ~25%? What about it? What's it made out of? Does he even know? Of course not. He only knows that $1.1 trillion sounds scary large.
I've read through this three times and I'm confused. Is ~$750 million somehow 75% of a trillion now or am I just reading this incorrectly because of the issues I had this evening with the nonexistent rattlesnake?

Edit: Or maybe you're trolling them and it went over my head?

Hahahaha... no, I completely fucked that up is all. Hang on and I'll try to blame it on semantics and you not looking at all the deltas.

Regardless, without context, the OP is pretty meaningless. The Omnibus bill is a combination of twelve other bills. What did they total last year? What specific changes am I supposed to get upset about?

It's the 6000+ individual earmarks totaling less than 1% of the damn bill for Bob's sake. Don't these people know that the election in November was a mandate to reduce the spending of the federal government by less than 1%? Washington is deaf, I swear to Bob.

How confusing. More Americans support the healthcare reform bill than don't. So... not funding it would mean Congress couldn't care less, right?

I think you meant to write "I couldn't care less what voters think if they don't agree with me."
