True story: In grade 7, a friend of mine hoping to get extra credit from her social studies teacher actually made the entire class cupcakes with swastikas on them. They were studying WW2. She, of course, had no idea what the symbol signified and she quite delightedly presented her appalled teacher the offending snacks. Wooo-wee.

I'd seen that picture in little "Racist Cupcakes?" sidebar links yesterday and didn't click on it assuming it was usual bellyaching over nothing.
Man, everything about that commercial was lolracist. And just when you're thinking "Maybe I'm reading too much into this", you've got the white guy cupcake who can't sing until he's covered with chocolate frosting giving him the power of black soul. Rock on Duncan Hines, you crazy mother fuckers.

I can understand the whole racist aspect of the cupcakes commercial... (Personally I'm not offended by them insinuating that white people can't sing hip hop) but the article linked to another supposedly "offensive" commercial made by the guy. http://vimeo.com/14941792

I'm surprised so many of you are buying the racist spin. People like it when you personify object. They are selling chocolate glaze. The last cupcake demonstrates how their product makes everything better.
I can understand what people are seeing, but I think they're silly for looking so hard for it. I'm reminded over the fiasco with Nintendo's Jynx pokemon, created by some Japanese guy who had probably never even heard of blackface.
