I'm near wetting myself in anticipation as to what Nasa is going to reveal on Thursday in their press conference regarding astro biology.

I'm hoping its not just a publicity thingy to promote 'Battle:Los Angeles' but will actually be about something that will shake people up a bit (not too much, just a bit...).

/Fizz.

It's going to be completely underwhelming to anyone not in the field. At the absolute best they discovered microbes on a solar system planet, more likely the remains of microbes, even more likely they've discovered another planet they believe is even more capable of supporting life.

It's not going to shake people up. It would have been a bigger deal by now if it would.

They've discovered that there is, in fact, no intelligent life in the universe.

At all.

I'm not in the field officially but I'm bouncing in my seat because I'm one of the many kids who always wanted to work for NASA when I was growing up.

(Calc II disagreed with my career plans.)

If they make an Avatar sequel, I guarantee you there will be shooting.

Phil Plait seems to be leaning towards something along the lines of they've discovered different conditions on which life can exist, meaning it could exist on possibly more moons/planets in our solar system.

I'm leaning more towards Allegory's assumptions that it'll be completely underwhelming, though.

Phil plait has become less of an information source and more a self-promoting jackass.

I'm excited about the Avatar sequels news. I rewatched it for the 3rd time recently, this time on my computer, and I was still blown away by the graphics, and had fun sitting through the neat adventure story again, even though it's simple and I know it by heart.

Sad to hear Cameron is an cnut to work for, sad for his employees. I know workplace stress is NOT fun. however I'm a happy customer of his artwork. He may do simple good vs evil stories, but his films have a something extra that lift them above the run of the mill Hollywood feature film.

No, it's because he's Canadian. People like us, often for no reason whatsoever. We run some good propaganda.

How does this disprove my "fanboys" remark?

Likely with direct evidence, if it had any.

I think you're the only person to ever make that comparison. No, really.
