If you do that more than once you're an idiot. If you do it once, you're still an idiot. Big boys wear slip on shoes or sandals to fly so we don't have to worry about that.

This is exactly my thought. I always wear comfy sneakers I can slip on or off when I go on a flight. Same idea with not putting on a watch, or taking off jewelry, or wearing pants that won't fall down if you take off your belt. I can understand getting caught a couple of times with a long delay due to these kinds of items, but it's been almost a decade since security was increasing and not knowing "quick tips" as an experienced traveler seems foolish.

There are crazy elements in both parties. Good to see our forum can distinguish them. We need more of this.

I don't think the US is in a position to have an adult discussion of security versus privacy.

That said, I firmly believe we have gone too far toward security at the expense of privacy.

The price of freedom is not only the blood of our soldiers. Sometimes it is our own.

I don't know that it's a problem of going too far, though, as much as it is of going in the wrong direction. We're so worried about CAIR crying racism or La Raza getting its panties in a twist that we ignore the failings and complete lack of common sense of our current system in favor of heading off the emotional appeal of an extreme minority.

I'm pretty sure they're saying your thoughts are responsible for lowering the board average IQ by at least 3 points.

Are you saying white women over the age of 40 and under the ago of 25 should be excluded from airport security lines?

But they could be, and boy, wouldn't we feel silly once it happened! Actually, specifically targeting only dark brown people with funny headdresses would be a pretty good motivation to get old grannies or little girls to carry bombs. Besides, you always could get guys like this one and fake out security with a really good disguise.

I'm saying potential terrorists have a certain MO and ignoring this in the face of political correctness is insane.

We should only require security checks on those that look like terrorists?

God you're such a parrot. Think for yourself boy. Security, such as you find at our airports, treats all the same because any particular traveler is just as capable as any other of carrying some illegal trouble-making device on them. It has nothing to do with political correctness. If it did, why was the issue not brought up back in 2002 when the airports were required to beef up their surveillance by putting ALL passengers through more rigorous security checks?

The PC twist is wholly and totally propaganda.

And I'm not really sure its warranted. The government already has a watch list of individuals they think might be dangerous in the air, and that list most likely does not fall under any PC carebear umbrella. The rest of the general population has a low chance of attacking, and thus all people are given the same treatment. Seems like a pretty good system, actually.

"Adult discussion" is quickly becoming a phrase that triggers instant cynicism whenever I hear it mentioned in regards to politics, right along "fact-check" and "death panels."

I think we should all chip in to have Varus try and take explosives through security just so we can hear about him going "you don't need to search me, I'm not a dirty raghead".

I've heard complaints about the security measures being ineffective, which I think is valid criticism, but complaints about invasion of privacy are utterly arbitrary. I couldn't believe some of the idiot takes on the incident in my local paper. Whether the security measures are right or wrong, how twisted does your reasoning have to be for your definition of genius to be recording video evidence and your definition of hero to be throwing a tantrum--insulting workers trying to do their job.

Well... All Rosa Parks did was sit down on a bus seat.

Let's not pretend that small events getting blown up into central rallying cries for some cause is a new thing, ok?

I hate to offend your little pc fantasy but the people carrying explosives are dark skinned muslims.

Chechnya. Serbia. For example....

But I'm sure I'm not the only person to be able to make the connection between the population make-up of the countries that are at the recieving end of the Wests 'War on Terror', and the profile of the everage suicide bomber.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

And if your reactionary capabilities are severely limited due to your lack of a military machine, meaning 'equal and opposite' isn't possible, then the next best thing is going to be your suicide bomber/terrorist attack types.

And also. Varus, you're a prat.

Since no one has bothered, I'll play Varus's game:

The second you decide not to screen young/elderly white girls, AQ will find a Chechen war-widow, strap a bomb to her chest, and explode the next available flight.

That was easy. What's your next bright idea, varrus?

Moron. You fly the little old granny from Chechnya to Tennesse, have her get her bomb from some dude who wants Chicago blown up, and then send her on a domestic flight to Chicago. Boom!

Wait, you want to wait until AFTER another airplane is used as a terrorist weapon BEFORE you implement security measures on everyone equally? o_O
