Stupid is as Stupid spouts off on the radioFollow

#1 Nov 22 2010 at 9:44 AM Rating: Excellent
So I'm listening to the radio this weekend in the car on a late night Target run (hey, when you run out of diapers, you go get them), and there's a guy called Bill Cunningham on. He (like the rest of the "conservative" talk radio world) is talking about the TSA screening process. His pearl-ified wisdom on the subject?

"Every time you get sexually assaulted by a TSA screener, it's because Obama wants it. Every time your children get molested by a TSA screener, it's because Obama wants it. He knows Democrats don't fly. He wants the TSA to assault Republicans."

It's like someone gave varus a radio talk show.

Moe,

I'm amazed we've survived this long without tsa agents giving little old white women and children rectal exams.

And yes this is Obama's fault by not mandating tsa agents profile.

People want security until it's inconvenient for them. Then it's a Big Deal. Shocker, huh?

Oh well. I'm sure if some white person got onto an airplane with an explosive because she didn't fit Varus's "profile", that'd be Obama's fault as well.

Just so I'm clear, it doesn't surprise me that a conservative radio host says the screenings are Obama's fault. Everything is Obama's fault, including the fact that I woke up at 5:10 AM today. What I thought was particularly stupid was the remark about Democrats not flying and thus not having to endure the treatment.

Of course not. Democrats don't fly; they just drive everywhere in their welfare-funded Escalades.

Cleverer still, but it doesn't roll off the tongue. It's like Polish, or something.

Yeah, but how does that stop them from flying? They use the welfare money to pay for the stuff the drug money doesn't cover.

Well when 90yr old white grannies and 8yr old little white girls start getting caught with explosives on them you have my permission to start frisking them then.

How would you catch them if they weren't being searched, hmmm?

I really can't understand people getting upset about security at airports. I've flown on average 4 times a year since 9/11, and I've been patted down once. I've never stood in a security line longer than half an hour, and I've had to go back through the metal detector one time (left change in my back pocket, oops!) I've never felt assaulted or maligned in any way, and I'm thankful for the security, even after hearing cases of how easy it is to breach it.

It really seems to me that vast majority of complainers are complaining because they're in the wrong - either they don't follow the rules, or are in a rush because they didn't prepare in advance or show up early, or they just have terrible attitudes.

Catch them? You're assuming there'd be something to catch.

Oh, right, sorry; you can only assume that Arabs are carrying bombs.

Nope: but a lot of the complaints I've read about or seen have been from white middle-aged men with bad attitudes.

The last few times I've flown alone, I've been "randomly selected" for further scrutiny. It's been a couple of years since then, so I can't comment on recent developments, but this added scrutiny involved removing my belt, jacket, and being subjected to a relatively swift pat down and a once over with the personal metal detector. Nothing major. The one thing that bothers me most (and I think everyone has to do this now) is having to remove your shoes so they can go through the metal detector in the plastic tub. It's a pain in the *** to remove your shoes and put them back on, especially when there's limited seating past the security gate, so you either have to wait around or do the "putting your shoes on standing up" dance (which admittedly is more difficult for a taller, bigger individual) or wait til you get to your gate to sit down and do it.
