While the use of condoms obviously puts a huge dent in the spread of AIDS, it is not the AIDS virus that the Catholic Church is concerned with. Heck, I'm sure as far as the pope cares, those sinners deserve their suffering because "God is just and right".

No, the Catholic Church doesn't endorse condoms because condoms are an effective measure against pregnancy. Not that should be news to anyone here. Anyways, less babies means less little minds for the Church to warp. More babies, more zealots.

Vatican City doesn't really care how many of it's followers are suffering. They only care about how many suffering followers they can accumulate.

You should make a conscious effort not to post until you can add something that hasn't already been added or stipulated to.
eh, there is potential for this poster.

I think the pope was saying that condoms are less evil if you've got a life threatening STD and doing it with as many people as you can... not that using them is good.

Pope's condom comments welcomed by campaign groups

Pope Benedict said during a visit to Cameroon last year that handing out condoms might actually make HIV infection worse, drawing criticism from several EU states.

In his latest comments, however, he said the use of condoms might be justified in exceptional circumstances.

He gave the example of male prostitutes where, he said, using condoms to prevent the spread of AIDS could be seen as an act of moral responsibility, even though condoms were "not really the way to deal with the evil of HIV infection".

So you heard it here, folks. It's official.

Slip on a rubber and slip it in the Shitter. It's the Cafflick way.

I'd like to use this opportunity to clear up an erroneous assumption people tend to make when speaking about this subject.

Gay male sex =/= *******.

Thank you.

What do you mean? I don't find it particularly offensive or anything. Maybe a bit immodest, so my apologies, I've just used this forever since I have a cool superman avatar I usually use with this name on forums.

I don't think Bard is offended by your name, he's just saying that it's a pretty sad name.

This.

It makes me think you are a 14 year old boy with ultraconservative religious parents that is trying to rebel a little too hard.

There are facebook pictures of me dressed as a pirate preaching the Gospel of the FSM at my university. I also gave away free ramen! My tag line? "The Church of the FSM: we feed the soul AND the body!"

Well you're assumption is far off, and you know what happens when you assume.

Actually, I'm exactly twice that age, and my father is an atheist and my mother is a deist, and both tend to have slightly liberal political views. Outside of my views on gay marriage and religion, I tend to be more on the conservative side actually.

I just tend to go on a lot of religious/atheist message boards so I tend to label myself as an atheist to make my position clear right off the bat and I have a cool superman-themed avatar I use on them with that name, so I just meshed Superman+Atheist to come up with SuperAtheist and for convenience sake I used the name here instead of remembering a bunch of different usernames for various message boards.

How hard is it to remember a few names? Or hell, it doesn't even really matter if you remember them, that's why god invented cookies.
